Supply Planner Position

Summary

Under the general supervision of the Supply Leader, the Supply Planner is responsible for managing/overseeing the supply of materials for the North American Inks organization. This includes participation with setting strategy and direction, planning/executing goods movements (production and inbound goods) and ensuring completeness and accuracy of SAP master data. To accomplish the above, the Supply Planner will participate in the review/confirmation of the demand forecast; assess supply status of goods and capacity utilization based on the demand forecast; oversee and/or validate inventory planning and target setting at the manufacturing sites and monitor or execute as necessary the ordering or production of materials to satisfy demand requirements. The Supply Planner is a key contributor toward achieving a world class, robust supply chain utilizing SAP and other relevant tools to gain visibility, agility and connectivity throughout the organization. Data maintenance, in particular inventory target setting, is critical to achieving this goal. Optimization of distribution/sourcing model and inventory stocking plans across the network to align with customer service expectations is fundamental to this role. Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Educate/Train/Direct Site MRP Controllers as necessary to ensure proper execution of supply chain planning strategy. Act as MRP Controller as assigned – primarily external warehouse management or site back-up activities. (Strategy as reflected in SAP Master Data – MTO/MTS, sourcing, EOQ values, etc.…)
  • Monitor inventory levels for assigned product lines and engage MRP controllers to address deviations from targets
  • Assist/Direct MRP Controllers in safety stock settings
  • Identify deviations in process/plan and coordinate resolution
  • Ensure Dormant/Aging stocks have disposition plans - prevent creation and drive reduction
  • Develop/Validate service model by customer/material to support generation of customer SLA’s. Coordinate with NACS to ensure CMIR reflects agreed sourcing plans.
  • Interact with Sales/Product Management, Demand Planner(s), and Sites to address CID submissions or other demand changes. Coordinate/Execute master data changes to ensure alignment with future volumes.
  • Utilizing the demand forecast, work with the Plant Schedulers, Plant Managers and regional supply teams to maintain accurate production focused forecasts and/or RCCP for appropriate production resources.
  • Resolve issues such as capacity constraints and material shortfalls. Coordinate reallocation/resupply of materials in a manner which best supports customer demand and minimizes costs.
  • Engage with product management, technical, commercial and manufacturing resources to ensure smooth launch and/or discontinuation activities for assigned products. Proper planning of ramp-up and ramp-down is critical to customer service as well as preventing product dormancy.
  • Investigate and resolve and supply chain related complaints raised through EtQ as assigned.
  • Engage with our in-plant locations to coordinate most economical supply plans from key source locations – supporting inventory planning at both supply plant and in-plant as well as optimization of logistics.
  • Conduct/Support targeted customer account interactions, typically focused on long-lead time or complex supply chains. Customer engagement ensures adequate stock coverage and clarifies expectations of service.

Key Metrics include:

  • On-time and In-Full (OTIF) and or SLA Compliance for assigned product lines.
  • Inventory Management including: Days On Hand; Aging and Dormant stock levels.

Requirements:

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in Supply Chain and/or Operations Planning, preferably for a Chemical Company.
  • Prior experience utilizing MRP software, preferably SAP (purchasing or materials management)
  • Managing with Data ~ Strong quantitative data mining and analytical skills required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong Excel user skills required – extensive use of formulas, graphs and pivot tables
  • Access knowledge and skills are a definite plus.
  • APICS or similar certification a plus.
  • 5-15% travel
