Assistant Controller
Assistant Controller
This opportunity sits within a rapidly expanding, multi-site provider/healthcare group, backed by Private Equity. This is a newly created position.
The Assistant Controller is a key member of the Finance and Accounting functions. The Assistant Controller works directly with the Controller, CFO and VP, FP&A in supporting all aspects of the financial reporting cycle. This position will oversee the general ledger (GL) accounting and treasury functions. The Assistant Controller will also work closely with the SVP of Operations and Regional VPs of Operations as well as other departmental leads on business initiatives and process improvements.
Candidates will have the opportunity to work 100% remote with travel 2-3 times a year.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Oversee the monthly financial close and reconciliation procedures.
- Ensure precise and punctual recording of financial transactions adhering to US GAAP and relevant regulatory standards.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to streamline processes and enhance reporting efficiency in support of business operations.
- Analyze financial data to offer insights for informed decision-making, including thorough review of monthly outcomes.
- Coordinate with various teams to facilitate the revenue recognition model and associated procedures.
- Maintain streamlined accounting processes and controls, and revise accounting policies as necessary.
- Contribute to ad hoc projects and oversee initiatives affecting accounting or financial statements.
- Provide support for the annual financial statement audit process and other audit/review engagements.
Supervisory Duties:
- Supervise and mentor a team comprising 3 direct reports (2 Accounting Managers, 1 AP Manager).
- Conduct performance evaluations and facilitate professional development opportunities for team members.
Skills and Attributes:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Tableau.
- Demonstrates strong analytical capabilities, adept at synthesizing large datasets and identifying trends.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, along with interpersonal and organizational abilities.
- Exhibits robust critical thinking and problem-solving prowess.
- Proficient in documentation techniques such as narratives and flow charts.
- Skilled in visualization and presentation to effectively communicate findings and plans.
- Meticulous attention to detail and proficient time management skills to meet deadlines.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA certification is mandatory.
- Minimum of 6 years of progressive accounting experience; Big 4 experience is advantageous.
- Preferably experienced in multi-site healthcare or private equity-backed organizations.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
- Experience in project management, deadline management, and previous supervisory roles.
- Familiarity with data management and visualization tools such as SQL Server, PowerBI, Great Plains, and Tableau.
