Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer

Location: Northern Vermont

About Integrated Health System

• Serves more than one million residents
• Provides a full range of tertiary-level inpatient and outpatient services and provides primary care services

Responsibilities:
• Oversee the design, implementation, administration, and continuous improvement of Health Network Compliance and Privacy programs.
• Lead and supervise a team of 12, including Network Partner Compliance and Privacy Officers, the Compliance and Privacy Manager, and the Compliance Supervisor, while providing guidance to Privacy Analysts, Compliance Specialists, and Privacy Auditors.
• Ensure organizational adherence to compliance and privacy regulations, proactively addressing gaps and opportunities for improvement.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve complex compliance and privacy matters, ensuring alignment with industry standards and regulations.
• Report directly to the Network General Counsel.
• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:
• Juris Doctor (JD) strongly preferred; alternatively, a master’s degree in business administration, healthcare management, or a related field is acceptable.
• A minimum of five years of experience in healthcare compliance and privacy, including hands-on management in complex organizational environments.
• In-depth knowledge of healthcare reimbursement systems, fraud and abuse laws, and patient privacy laws is required.
• Demonstrated experience in managing and resolving billing and regulatory compliance issues.
• Proven ability to interact and coordinate effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders.

Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer Responsibilities:

• Oversight, design, administration, education, and continual improvement of Health Network Compliance and Privacy programs
• Supervises a team of 12, which consists of Network Partner Compliance and Privacy Officers, the Compliance and Privacy Manager, and Compliance Supervisor, and provides guidance to those roles in overseeing the Privacy Analysts, and Compliance and Privacy Specialists/Auditors.
• Other responsibilities as assigned.
• Reports to the Network General Counsel

Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer Qualifications:

• JD strongly preferred, or master’s degree in business administration, healthcare management or related field.
• Five plus years of experience in the field of health care compliance and privacy
• Management experience working in complex organizational settings and demonstrated ability to interact and coordinate activities with various internal and external constituents is required. Familiarity with health care reimbursement systems, fraud and abuse laws, and patient privacy laws required.
• Experience in managing and resolving billing and health care regulatory compliance issues is critical.
