Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for leading and managing the finance and accounting department. The CFO will oversee acquisition deal analysis and integration, drive growth and financial performance through KPI management, and support strategic development and operational planning/budgeting. This role will also ensure the effective implementation of financial standard operating procedures (SOPs) and systems.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Lead and manage the central finance team, overseeing core areas such as financial planning and analysis (FP&A), accounting, and treasury systems and controls.
- Supervise the monthly financial close process, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of financial reports, including final reviews of monthly financial packages.
- Oversee quarterly and year-end financial reviews, including preparation of board packages, financial statements, and lender reporting.
- Direct liquidity management efforts with FP&A and accounting support, reviewing liquidity reports, forecasting, and advising on capital expenditure and strategic business decisions.
- Oversee the budgeting process, ensuring integration of actual results with forecasts for board approval and subsequent lender reporting.
- Maintain regular communication with the board and ownership regarding financial and accounting functions.
- Serve as the primary contact for corporate and equipment lenders, managing relationships, leading presentations, and addressing inquiries.
- Approve check signing and ACH transactions, ensuring adherence to formal processes, documentation standards, and authority delegations.
- Manage key vendor relationships to optimize days payable outstanding (DPO) and support business interests.
- Oversee collections efforts, tracking accounts receivable (A/R) milestones and minimizing days sales outstanding (DSO).
- Monitor and report company KPIs, collaborating with FP&A personnel to provide insights for executives and investors.
- Support mergers and acquisitions (M&A) activities, including pre-transaction analysis and post-transaction financial integration for new businesses or expansions.
- Advise the CEO on financial strategy, with a focus on liquidity management and financial forecasting.
- Lead the implementation of financial systems (e.g., NetSuite), coordinating with internal and external project teams.
- Drive margin control initiatives, developing data tools and integrating with ERP systems to support the sales team.
EDUCATIONAL AND PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance (required); MBA and/or CPA (preferred).
- Experience:
- 15+ years of professional experience, including 5+ years in senior finance leadership roles.
- Experience in private equity and familiarity with board and investor communications is highly valued.
- Strong expertise in financial analysis, accounting, and quantitative skills, with formal training in accounting and finance.
- Comprehensive understanding of FP&A, GAAP accounting, treasury processes, and managing vendor and banking relationships.
- Proven success in leading enterprise-wide budgeting and forecasting processes across multiple functional and business entities.
- Experience managing multi-site, geographically distributed teams, including talent recruitment, retention, and development.
- Familiarity with construction or rental contracts, billing processes, and union environments is a plus.
- Knowledge of private equity transactions, M&A analysis, integration processes, and transaction modeling is highly valued.
