I am working with a growing automotive services company that has multiple locations in multiple states. They are seeking a hands-on HR Director. This should be a high-level generalist with a hands-on approach that is both strategic and tactical in their work approach. This individual will work closely with the executive team and with the staff to help grow the organization.
This position will report to the Chief Financial Officer, the Director of Human Resources will be a strategic thought-partner to the CEO, CFO and the Leadership Team around organizational design, integration of acquisitions, long-term talent planning, and talent management. The Director of Human Resources will provide leadership on identifying and developing key talent, leading change management, and reinforcing the company’s cultural values. He/She will also ensure the company meets all regulatory and HR compliance requirements in every location where the company operates. A willingness to travel regularly is a requirement for this role.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the recruitment, retention, evaluation, and remediation of employees.
• Manage the screening and onboarding processes for new hires.
• Provide support and administration for benefits programs, including 401K, profit sharing, health & dental insurance, and life insurance.
• Continuously evaluate and improve personnel policies, procedures, and compensation plans to align with industry best practices.
• Oversee regular compensation and performance reviews.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws and regulations.
• Handle the management of workers’ compensation claims, unemployment claims, and auto accident reporting.
• Willingness to travel as required.
• Develop and implement effective talent acquisition and onboarding processes to reduce time to full productivity and enhance cultural integration, particularly for employees acquired through mergers and acquisitions.
• Establish user-friendly processes for performance assessment, identification of key roles, and employee potential across the organization.
• Design and deliver development programs that align with the company’s strategic talent needs, preparing managers to support employees as they take on expanded responsibilities due to business growth.
Requirements:
• Proven success in HR with the ability to share specific examples.
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Experience as a hands-on leader in HR.
• Familiarity with payroll administration.
• A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Experience managing HR across multiple sites.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Self-motivated and proactive.
