Position Overview:
The Director of Procurement will lead the strategic and operational aspects of centralized purchasing activities. This role is responsible for developing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations, and driving cost efficiency without compromising quality or service. A key component includes integrating new acquisitions into centralized procurement processes while fostering category management capabilities. Collaboration with internal teams, including finance, sales operations, risk/safety, legal, and M&A integration, is vital for maintaining alignment with organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Procurement Leadership
- Design and execute procurement strategies to ensure the cost-effective and timely acquisition of goods and services.
- Evaluate market trends to identify risks, opportunities, and innovative procurement solutions.
- Align sourcing strategies with the company’s goals and long-term growth objectives.
Supplier Relationship Optimization
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with suppliers to ensure consistent quality, competitive pricing, and reliable delivery.
- Lead contract negotiations to secure optimal pricing and terms that enhance organizational value.
- Oversee supplier performance, ensuring adherence to quality and service standards.
Cost Optimization and Efficiency
- Drive cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality standards.
- Analyze purchasing patterns to identify opportunities for improvement and increased efficiency.
- Manage and monitor the procurement budget to align with financial targets.
Team Development and Leadership
- Inspire, mentor, and lead the procurement team to achieve exceptional performance.
- Set clear performance objectives and provide regular coaching and feedback.
- Oversee recruitment, training, and professional development to strengthen team capabilities.
Risk Mitigation and Compliance
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with internal policies and external regulations.
- Develop and implement contingency plans to address potential supply chain disruptions.
- Collaborate with legal teams to ensure contracts meet regulatory and contractual standards.
Vendor and Contract Oversight
- Negotiate and manage procurement contracts to secure favorable terms and conditions.
- Maintain a comprehensive repository for all contract documentation, ensuring accessibility and updates.
- Track and renew contracts proactively to maintain seamless vendor relationships.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting
- Measure and track procurement performance against KPIs such as cost savings and supplier reliability.
- Deliver actionable reports on procurement activities, identifying performance gaps and growth opportunities.
- Leverage data insights to refine and enhance procurement strategies.
Qualifications
Educational Background and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain management, business administration, or a related discipline (master’s degree preferred).
- 8-10 years of procurement experience, including 3+ years in a strategic leadership capacity.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CPSM, CPPM, CPP) are a strong advantage.
Key Competencies and Skills
- Proven ability to lead and inspire teams while driving results.
- Deep expertise in supplier negotiations, vendor management, and contract administration.
- Strong knowledge of procurement processes, risk management, and supplier relationship management.
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, or NetSuite.
- Exceptional communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

- Cost savings achieved against annual procurement goals.
- Supplier performance metrics (e.g., quality, cost, and delivery timelines).
