Director of Revenue Operations
We are partnering with a Private Equity backed service company providing B2B services across the life science and healthcare industry. The company is adding this new position to support continued growth as this group has completed over 10 acquisitions in the last 2 years, continuing down the buy and build strategy.
The Director of Revenue Operations will be responsible for revenue assurance and revenue management; and internal controls over the accuracy and completeness of customer invoicing over the company’s various revenue streams. This position will lead a revenue team to execute operational transactions and continuous improvement.
Office Requirement: Company is HQ in the greater San Diego area. Company would prefer local candidates.
Essential Functions
- Develops and implements processes and controls meant to ensure that revenue capture is accurate and maximized across multiple billing systems including customer portal billing process.
- Maintain and update customer invoicing processes and implement continuous improvement over the timely execution of customer invoicing.
- Manage and mentor a team of revenue professionals that identify ways to prevent revenue leakage or loss, reduce costs associated with business operations and revenue capture.
- Address revenue transaction inquiries from the business and provide guidance towards resolution of billing discrepancies.
- Identify, implement, and execute on internal controls and process improvements associated with customer invoicing.
- Review contract review summaries for complex transactions (for internal and audit purposes)
- Establish and enforce policies, guidelines, and procedures to ensure compliance, accuracy, and operational efficiency.
- Oversee all departmental operations, including data entry, coding, documentation, claims preparation and submission, accounts receivable management, payment posting, denials, collections, customer service, and appeals.
- Manage billing authorization processes and support billing and collections staff in resolving complex payer challenges.
- Collaborate with cross-departmental leadership to assess resource needs and improve billing productivity and collection rates.
- Monitor and analyze key metrics, such as outstanding authorizations, billings, collections, and accounts receivables, to reduce bad debt and ensure performance goals are met.
- Provide regular updates and reports on revenue cycle performance, challenges, and trends to the executive leadership team.
- Cultivate a culture of continuous learning and productivity to support a high-performing team environment.

Education, Experience and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in revenue cycle management, billing, and collections, preferably in a B2B or service-oriented setting.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in managing billing and collections teams, policy development, and executing strategic initiatives.
- A combination of relevant education, experience, and training may fulfill the requirements.
- In-depth knowledge of billing operations, coding, documentation, accounts receivable management, and collections.
- Strong skill set with invoicing in a high volume transaction business
- Demonstrated track record of process improvement within revenue transaction invoicing
- ERP experience is required
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Proven ability to address complex issues and customer complaints while ensuring compliance and optimizing revenue processes.
- Demonstrated success in working collaboratively with diverse teams and fostering cross-departmental cooperation.
