Description
The Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Engineer I develops regulatory compliance test programs on a variety of products according to established guidelines. As a member of the Test Services team, the EMC Engineer I will guide, perform testing, and report results for consumer products, wireless modules, and small vehicles, to complex medical devices, industrial systems, and cutting-edge RF technology. This position is onsite in Cedarburg, Wisconsin.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists with the engineering of test programs from inception to completion within the guidelines provided by customer test plans and the scope of project quotations by supporting an assigned customer project through coordination, execution, communication, and documentation. This effort may include the performance of testing or coordinating the performance of testing with other qualified laboratory personnel, constructing the test report upon completion of test project and continuous communication of project status with customer for the duration of the project.
- Executes multiple test programs built upon the comprehension of a variety of International Test Standards and being able to interpret the applicability of an assortment of test criterion.
- Assist customers with compliance issues, either through utilization of in-house EMC solution or design consultation.
- Assists with development of assorted laboratory documentation including project test reports, laboratory test procedures, technical papers, and training documents.
REQUIREMENTS
- Basic competency with test instrumentation including spectrum analyzers, antennas, EMI receivers, network analyzers, and oscilloscopes, etc.
- Excellent written/verbal communication skills with an advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work well in a team environment, positive attitude, and ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism.
- An ability to adapt to changes, delays, and unexpected events is important.
- Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups.
- Ability to setup clearly defined project steps.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance process, specifically CE, FCC or equivalent EMC standards is a plus.
- Experience in participating on multi-disciplinary teams is a plus.
- Ability to work under direct supervision at times and general supervision at times.
- General understanding of operating in an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory environment is a plus.
- Familiarity with wireless technologies.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor degree in Engineering, Physics or equivalent.
- 0-2 years experience in EMC testing.
