Description:
Seeking a highly motivated Field Service Engineer to execute customer support activities involving the installation, modification, and repair of complex nuclear measurement equipment and systems, with limited supervision.
Essential Duties:
- Perform onsite installations of complex nuclear measurement systems, focusing on hardware and software setup and configuration.
- Utilize established testing protocols to ensure systems are functioning correctly and meet performance standards.
- Provide thorough customer training on system operation, including hardware, software, and basic functionality.
- Diagnose and resolve system issues, collaborating with Technical Support and Engineering teams for solutions.
- Maintain accurate field reports and logs to document completed work and address field-related issues promptly.
- Represent the company with professionalism in all interactions, ensuring a positive customer experience.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-house troubleshooting and repairs as required.
- Offer technical support to customers via phone and email.
Essential Requirements:
- Strong technical expertise, ideally in electronics, mechanical engineering, or a science/physics-related field.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong organizational abilities and proficiency in typing and reporting.
- Self-motivated and adaptable, with the ability to work independently or collaboratively.
- Logical, analytical thinker adept at solving complex technical problems.
- Ability to adhere to safety protocols and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Willingness to travel up to 70% regionally.
- Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with High Purity Germanium (HPGe) detectors, Sodium Iodide (NaI) detectors, and Alpha/Beta Counting Systems.
- Proficiency in software such as Genie™ 2000, Apex Gamma™, Apex In-Vivo™, Eclipse™, and Apex-Alpha/Beta™.
- Familiarity with database management tools like SQL Server, Crystal Reports, and/or Access.
- Strong understanding of Nuclear Physics and Radiation Principles, including Gamma Spectroscopy, Alpha/Beta Counting, and radiation detection.
- Ability to troubleshoot systems at both modular and component levels.
Experience and Education:
- 1-3 years of experience in a technical or customer service role, showcasing proficiency in handling complex systems.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Nuclear Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Technical training combined with 4+ years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Experience in the Naval Nuclear Power Program is an advantage.
