Description:
Seeking a highly motivated Field Service Engineer to execute customer support activities involving the installation, modification, and repair of complex nuclear measurement equipment and systems, with limited supervision.
Essential Duties:
- Conduct onsite installations of complex nuclear measurement systems, ensuring proper hardware and software setup and configuration.
- Utilize established testing procedures to verify system functionality and performance standards.
- Provide in-depth training to customers on system operation, including hardware, software, and basic functions.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot system malfunctions, collaborating with Technical Support and Engineering teams for resolution.
- Maintain detailed field reports and logs, documenting work completed and addressing field-related issues promptly.
- Represent the company in a professional manner to ensure a positive and responsive customer experience.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Perform in-house troubleshooting and repair as necessary.
- Offer technical support to customers via phone and email.
Essential Requirements:
- Strong technical background, preferably in electronics, mechanical engineering, or a science/physics field.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including proficiency in typing and detailed reporting.
- Self-motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset, capable of working independently or as part of a team.
- Logical and analytical thinker with the ability to solve complex technical challenges.
- Adherence to safety protocols and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Willingness to travel up to 70% regionally.
- Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of High Purity Germanium (HPGe) detectors, Sodium Iodide (NaI) detectors, and Alpha/Beta Counting Systems.
- Familiarity with software such as Genie™ 2000, Apex Gamma™, Apex In-Vivo™, Eclipse™, and Apex-Alpha/Beta™.
- Experience with SQL Server, Crystal Reports, and/or Access for database management.
- Solid understanding of Nuclear Physics and Radiation Principles, including Gamma Spectroscopy, Alpha/Beta Counting, and radiation detection.
- Ability to troubleshoot systems at the modular or component level.
Experience and Education:
- 1-3 years of experience in a technical or customer service role, demonstrating skills in managing complex systems.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Nuclear Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Technical training combined with 4+ years of relevant experience will be considered as an equivalent.
- Experience in the Naval Nuclear Power Program is a plus.
