Description:
Seeking a highly motivated Field Service Engineer to execute customer support activities involving the installation, modification, and repair of complex nuclear measurement equipment and systems, with limited supervision.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
System Installation & Maintenance
- Conduct onsite installations of complex nuclear measurement systems, ensuring proper hardware and software setup.
- Follow established testing procedures to verify system functionality and performance standards.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot system malfunctions, collaborating with Technical Support and Engineering teams for resolution.
Customer Training & Support
- Provide comprehensive training to customers on system operation, including both hardware and software functionality.
- Maintain detailed field reports and logs, documenting completed work and addressing field-related issues.
- Offer technical support via phone and email as needed.
Additional Responsibilities
- Perform in-house troubleshooting and repairs when necessary.
- Represent the company in a professional manner, ensuring a positive and responsive customer experience.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Strong technical background in electronics, mechanical engineering, or a related science/physics field.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in technical documentation.
- Self-motivated and independent, with an entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to work within a team.
- Logical and analytical thinker with a problem-solving approach to complex technical challenges.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and adhere to all safety protocols.
- Willingness to travel up to 70% regionally.
- Valid driver’s license required.
Preferred Skills & Technical Knowledge:
- Experience with High Purity Germanium (HPGe) detectors, Sodium Iodide (NaI) detectors, and Alpha/Beta Counting Systems.
- Familiarity with software such as Genie™ 2000, Apex Gamma™, Apex In-Vivo™, Eclipse™, and Apex-Alpha/Beta™.
- Experience with SQL Server, Crystal Reports, and/or Microsoft Access for database management.
- Strong understanding of Nuclear Physics and Radiation Principles, including Gamma Spectroscopy, Alpha/Beta Counting, and radiation detection.
- Ability to troubleshoot systems at the modular or component level.
Education & Experience:
- 1–3 years of experience in a technical or customer-facing role involving complex system management.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Nuclear Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- Relevant technical training combined with 4+ years of experience will be considered an equivalent.
- Experience in the Naval Nuclear Power Program is a plus.
