Description
The Project & Technical Support Engineer supports customer projects through the creation of test plans, test procedures, user’s manuals, engineering analyses, and other project documents; participating in all phases of design of custom engineering projects including reviewing drawings for conformance to specification requirements; leading post-production and factory acceptance testing of customer projects; providing follow-on engineering support to customers after delivery, including occasional onsite support for training or commissioning.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering (preferred), Electrical, Mechanical, or a related field in Instrumentation Engineering.
- 3-5 years of relevant work experience in a technical engineering role.
- Fundamental knowledge of nuclear radiation properties, radiation instruments, detectors, and associated electronics (analog and digital), as well as nuclear analysis.
- Experience handling low-level radioactive material per the requirements of Instruments’ radiation materials license; prior experience working in a nuclear facility is a plus.
- Proficient in computer systems and digital electronics, with a strong command of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with MCNP and Microshield analysis tools is highly preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must meet NRC criteria for escorted access to nuclear power plants in the USA.
- Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time to customer sites.
Job Scope: Duties may generally be described as providing complete project & technical support for all Radiation Monitoring System (RAMSYS) projects/products.
Typical applications involve: On-site and off-site customer technical support; Support in generating technical offers, generating test procedures & test reports; conducting acceptance testing; qualification testing; CGI dedication; training (on site & off site); system configuration and installation supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
1. RMS Project Engineering, Design & Production Support:
- Review RFQs and assist in preparing technical proposals.
- Provide support during all phases of project negotiation and execution.
- Assess process monitor characteristics for specific applications.
- Configure and modify RAMSYS monitors to meet customer specifications.
- Develop test procedures and oversee post-production testing.
- Draft technical specifications for products and subcontractors.
- Review production documentation, including drawings and Bills of Materials (BOM).
- Conduct root cause analysis and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA).
- Prepare project compliance matrices.
2. Acceptance/Qualification Testing & Nuclear Calibration:
- Develop system test and calibration procedures for specific configurations.
- Conduct system acceptance, qualification testing, and nuclear calibration.
- Prepare detailed test and calibration reports.
- Address and resolve non-conformance issues as needed.
3. Installation, Training & Customer Support:
- Supervise and assist with system installation at customer sites.
- Write system-specific operating instructions and manuals.
- Provide both on-site and remote training sessions for customers.
- Offer online customer support and follow up to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Conduct demonstrations of equipment at customer sites, in-office, and at exhibitions.
4. Additional Responsibilities:
- Evaluate the performance and operation of RMS equipment.
- Draft and revise Commercial Grade Item (CGI) dedication procedures and perform CGI dedication.
- Review all RAMSYS-related technical and marketing materials.
- Support sales and marketing efforts by providing technical expertise and feedback.
- Gather and communicate customer feedback to influence product development.
