Nurse Director – Emergency Department

Nurse Director – Emergency Department Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Nurse Director to lead an Emergency Department (ED) operations. Reporting directly to the Chief Nursing Officer, you will collaborate with leadership to ensure clinical and operational performance while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Leadership and Oversight

  • Organize, direct, and supervise all clinical and procedural functions within the Emergency Department.
  • Provide leadership to ensure smooth and efficient departmental operations.

• Financial Management

  • Develop, implement, and manage the Emergency Department’s budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources.

• Quality Improvement

  • Lead ongoing quality and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Promote continuous learning and professional development among staff.
  • Ensure completion of annual competencies for all team members.

• Collaboration and Communication

  • Serve as the primary link between the ED, CNO, and other Administrative Team members.
  • Communicate critical updates and key information to leadership as needed.

Qualifications

• Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) is required.

• Licensure

  • Active North Carolina RN State License or Compact RN License is required.

• Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in emergency nursing care.
  • At least 2 years of managerial experience in a hospital setting.

• Certifications

  • Current certifications in BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) are required.
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification is preferred.

• Engages in ongoing quality and performance improvement, invests in lifelong learning for staff professional development and assures employees complete required annual competencies.
• Communicates important information to the CNO and other Administrative Team members as needed

Nurse Director – Emergency Department – Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in nursing
• Licensure: Active North Carolina RN State Licensure or Compact RN License.

Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years in nursing emergency care.
• At least 2 years of managerial experience within a hospital setting.
• Certifications: Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (TNCC preferred).
