Position Overview:
This hospital seeks a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Director for Obstetrics (OB) and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to lead and manage the OB and NICU departments. The Nurse Director will oversee patient care and staff management and ensure the highest standards of clinical care and patient safety. This role requires a dedicated, compassionate leader who can effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and maintain a family-centered care approach.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide leadership and strategic oversight for the OB and NICU departments.
• Ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care in both areas.
• Oversee daily operations, including staffing, budgeting, and resource management.
• Collaborate with physicians, staff, and hospital leadership to optimize patient outcomes and ensure seamless operations.
• Ensure full compliance with state, federal, and accrediting bodies (JCAHO, CMS).
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives and implement best practices in maternal and neonatal care.
• Develop and manage departmental budgets, monitor expenditures, and enhance financial performance.
• Lead and mentor nursing staff, promoting a culture of teamwork, engagement, and professional growth.
• Manage recruitment, onboarding, and retention of OB and NICU personnel.
• Coordinate with other hospital departments to improve care coordination and patient satisfaction.
• Facilitate and participate in quality improvement efforts and clinical audits.
Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s Degree preferred.
• Licensure/Certification: Active RN license in Michigan, or eligibility to obtain.
Experience:
• Minimum of 5 years of clinical nursing experience in OB or NICU settings.
• At least 5 years in a nursing leadership role, managing OB or NICU units within a hospital.
• 10+ years of nursing experience overall.
• Experience managing a unionized workforce is highly desirable.
• Proven track record in driving quality improvements, managing budgets, and developing staff.
• Strong knowledge of perinatal and neonatal clinical practices and regulatory guidelines.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining composure.
