Position Overview:
The Engineering Manager is pivotal in setting, implementing, and upholding world-class standards for building component engineering. By developing well-documented processes and procedures, they elevate the engineering department to new industry heights. This role involves effective collaboration with team members across various specialties to ensure the organization remains the safest and most innovative in the building industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Standards Development: Collaborate with key stakeholders to establish and maintain engineering standards and procedures, develop standardized engineering calculations, and identify and implement new technologies to enhance capabilities.
- Maintenance: Oversee the continuous maintenance and updating of standards, ensuring all process changes are accompanied by appropriate training.
- Auditing: Ensure compliance with engineering standards and procedures by conducting audits with both internal and external engineers.
- Training: Conduct interviews, onboarding, and provide ongoing training to the engineering team.
- Collaboration: Work across the organization (preconstruction, manufacturing, quality, project management, and construction) to integrate engineering expertise into safe, cost-effective, and efficient precast building solutions.
- Research and Development: Engage in collaborative meetings and independent research to explore new product possibilities and long-term growth opportunities.
- Leadership: Mentor engineers, report performance successes and areas for improvement to the Manager of Design Services, and assist in preparing for performance evaluations.
- Engineering Duties: Carry out Project Engineer responsibilities for assigned projects.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineering or Structural Engineering license in Illinois, Iowa, or Wisconsin.
- Excellent understanding of construction processes, including architectural drawings, details, and constructability.
- Previous experience in designing and computing structural precast elements.
- Demonstrated ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts to structural analysis of building systems and components.
- Clear understanding of building code requirements.
- Proficiency in Revit Autodesk or equivalent modeling software.
- Competence with engineering software programs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Structural Engineering license.
- Experience in the precast concrete industry.
