What the position entails: As a member of the Leadership Team, the Quality Manager will oversee development of the Quality Plan ensuring customer expectations are met, train every employee in the quality requirements of his/her job and the Tools of Quality, provide staff support to plant supervision in day-to-day quality issues, and monitor the Quality System to assure total compliance with the Quality Plan.
Key Responsibilities:
- Quality Plan Management: Develop and oversee the implementation of the Quality Plan for the plant. Regularly update the quality and procedures manuals to ensure they meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Training & Development: Ensure all plant employees are trained on quality requirements and the Quality Plan. Monitor and support the training and growth of quality technicians.
- Improvement Initiatives: Engage in key improvement and planning teams such as APQP, PBL, SQAC, Six Sigma, and Corporate Quality Council.
- Internal Audits: Conduct internal audits as outlined in the Quality Plan. Develop and implement corrective actions for identified non-conformances and ensure ongoing quality compliance through regular audits. Recommend and facilitate necessary improvements.
- Inspection System Oversight: Manage the inspection system, including incoming material approval, product testing, in-process inspections, gage control, and machine capability. Ensure compliance through effective oversight and corrective action.
- Customer Complaint Resolution: Address and resolve both external and internal customer complaints in collaboration with customers, suppliers, and relevant plant personnel.
- Quality Documentation: Maintain accurate customer and part quality records. Ensure adherence to all customer quality system requirements.
- Company Mission & Safety: Support and embody Brazeway’s mission, vision, Code of Conduct, and Process-Based Leadership guidelines. Actively participate in 5S + Safety programs.
- Travel: Travel as needed to support and engage with the customer base.
- Communication & Presence: Exhibit strong presentation skills, tailor messaging to different audiences, and maintain a strong, impactful presence on the plant floor. Utilize Gemba Walks to monitor and reinforce expected standards.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is preferred.
- Experience: 7-10 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment, with a preference for automotive supplier experience.
- Quality Management: Proven experience in quality management is required. Certification as a Quality Engineer/Manager is preferred.
- Knowledge: Working knowledge of IATF16949 system requirements and Six Sigma tools.
- Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, commitment to teamwork, and a proactive approach to quality management.
