Quality Specialist / Senior Quality Technician / Quality Engineer
The primary role of the Quality Specialist is to assist the Quality Manager in assuring consistent and 100% good quality of production by enforcing ISO standards and procedures. This includes validating processes, measuring production, documenting evidence, training of personnel, and providing support to the Quality Manager.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Training quality support and shop employees in the reading and understanding the work folders, reading of prints, how to properly measure parts, identification of material, and how to track the quality level through writing down the characteristics on the quality sheet.
- Manage the Quality System, assuring that the Quality Support Team is developing staff and utilizing them for the greatest effectiveness within the manufacturing process and lead the Quality Support Team in the development, implementation and maintenance of the quality systems.
- Perform First Article Inspections, PPAP’s as required by the customer for production approval process, oversee management of the ISO documentation system, investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective actions regarding QC errors and ensure the SIS’s organization processes and systems are adequate to implement, achieve, and maintain ISO certification.
- Management of documentation filing, internal auditing and management of the communication of quality information both internally and externally, drive resolution on customer audits and 3rd party audits such as ISO certification and reassessment audits and ensure that all internal Operational Departments (Production, Maintenance, R&D, Sales & Operations Planning and Procurement) needs are met by the Quality Department.
- Managing a robust and effective Supplier Assurance Program including supply chain preventive controls. Validate and audit raw material suppliers. Assuring that the Quality Team is maintaining regular audit schedule and has confidence in the integrity of quality throughout the manufacturing process and oversee product quality testing and relationships with 3rd party external labs.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED, required. Kaizen and 6S implementation familiarity, is a plus.
- Experience using Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), Keyence, Calipers, Dial Gauge, and other metrology devices.
- Effective technical communicate and understand job instructions both verbally and written in the English language. Ability to communicate with people on different technical levels on different types of media.
- Ability to perform advanced mathematical computations; ability to convert metric units correctly and applying the conversions to practical situations.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
