Director, Financial Planning and Analysis

We are partnering with a Private Equity backed, newly acquired utilities company looking to add a Sr. Manager/Director FPA to the team. Reporting to the CFO, primarily responsible for leading the Company’s FP&A capability (including weekly KPI development, monthly reporting, forecasting, and business analytics). Secondary focus on M&A diligence and integration

• Primary Responsibilities for FP&A Role:

  • Develop and upkeep financial models for budgeting and forecasting purposes.
  • Analyze current financial and operational performance against historical data and projections.
  • Own and produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for various stakeholders (Executive team, board of directors, and lenders).
  • Collaborate with senior management to review actual results, explaining variances and identifying key business drivers.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process, including planning for capital expenditures.
  • Utilize analytics to enhance decision-making across the organization.
  • Cultivate strategic relationships with Sales & Marketing and Operations teams to ensure alignment on critical business drivers.
  • Manage responsibilities related to mergers and acquisitions.

  Additional M&A Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with CFO and CMO to conduct business analyses for potential acquisitions.
  • Support third-party diligence processes for potential acquisitions.

  Qualifications:

  • Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in finance and FP&A roles.
  • Proficiency in constructing detailed financial models and forecasts.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, including advanced Excel proficiency.
  • Solid understanding of US GAAP and financial consolidation procedures.
  • Eagerness to establish finance and business intelligence frameworks within a rapidly growing company.
  • Experience in a private equity-backed environment, with capability in managing diverse external stakeholders, is highly desired.
  • Previous exposure to technician or route-based services businesses is advantageous.
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of conveying insights effectively to both operational teams and executives.

Key FP&A Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain financial models for budgeting and forecasting
• Analyze current financial and operational performance against historical data and forecasts
• Own and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for a wide range of stakeholders (Executive team, board of directors, and lenders)
• Review actual results with senior management and provide an understanding of variances and key business drivers
• Lead the annual budgeting process, including capital expenditure planning
• Deploy analytics to help the business improve decision-making processes
• Build strategic working relationships with key team members in Sales & Marketing and Operations to ensure a shared understanding of key business drivers

M&A responsibilities

• Work directly with CFO and CMO to drive business analysis of potential add-on acquisitions
• Support third-party diligence workstreams of potential add-on acquisitions

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in progressive finance and FP&A roles
• Experience with building detailed models and forecasts
• Excellent analytical / quantitative skills (must have considerable Excel experience)
• Sound understanding of US GAAP and financial consolidation processes
• Enthusiasm for building finance / business intelligence processes in a high-growth company
• Experience working in a private equity-backed company environment with the ability to work with multiple external constituents strongly preferred
• Experience with working in a technician / route-based services business preferable
• Excellent communicator; ability to relay insights both at the field and executive levels
