Senior Staff Accountant
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Staff Accountant to join our dynamic accounting team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in month-end close, financial statement preparation, journal entries and payroll processing. Key Responsibilities:
- Month-End Close: Lead the month-end close process, ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to gather necessary information and ensure all tasks are completed by the required deadlines.
- Financial Statements: Prepare and review balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Analyze financial data to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards (GAAP).
- Journal Entries: Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, adjustments, and allocations. Review and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Payroll Processing: Oversee and assist with payroll processing, ensuring accurate calculations, deductions, and compliance with federal and state regulations. Collaborate with HR to resolve any payroll discrepancies.
- Account Reconciliations: Perform detailed reconciliations of bank accounts, credit card accounts, and intercompany transactions. Investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Internal Controls: Assist in maintaining and enhancing internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial reporting and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Reporting and Analysis: Prepare ad-hoc financial reports and analyses as needed for management, department heads, and external auditors. Provide insights to improve business operations and efficiency.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with other departments (HR, Operations, etc.) to gather data for accurate financial reporting and ensure the smooth execution of accounting functions.
- Process Improvement: Continuously assess accounting processes for efficiency and accuracy, identifying areas for improvement and implementing best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3+ years of accounting experience, with a strong focus on payroll, month-end close, journal entries, and financial statement preparation.
- Proven experience with payroll processing and understanding of payroll-related regulations and compliance.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and accounting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage) and Microsoft Excel.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Experience with process improvement initiatives is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred, but not required.
- Experience working in a healthcare, retail, or other high-volume transaction industry is a plus.
