This position is with one of the largest physician groups in the country, based in Chicagoland, and one of the fastest-growing healthcare networks in the US. Known for its innovative approach and commitment to providing top-tier patient care, this organization is expanding its strategic footprint through mergers and acquisitions (M&A) to enhance growth and operational excellence.
Summary
The VP of Mergers and Acquisitions will report to an SVP and own the end-to-end M&A process, driving growth through strategic acquisitions. This individual will build and manage a robust pipeline of acquisition targets, lead due diligence and deal execution, and ensure seamless post-acquisition integration. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, has a strong financial acumen, and excels at building relationships with key stakeholders.
Primary Responsibilities
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline of acquisition targets aligned with the company’s strategic growth objectives
- Develop and manage relationships with brokers, advisors, business owners, and strategic partners to identify and evaluate high-quality acquisition opportunities
- Partner with the SVP of Corporate Development to move opportunities from sourcing through to execution and integration
- Lead all phases of the M&A process, including target evaluation, due diligence, financial modeling, and transaction structuring
- Coordinate cross-functional diligence efforts across finance, legal, operations, and compliance to ensure efficient deal execution
- Prepare and deliver investment memos, financial analyses, and strategic assessments for executive and board-level decision-making
- Required Education & Competencies
Experience
- 8+ years of M&A experience in investment banking, private equity, or corporate development
- Demonstrated success in executing multiple end-to-end transactions, preferably in healthcare or multi-site services
Technical Skills
- Expertise in financial modeling, valuation, and due diligence
- Strong understanding of deal structuring and transaction mechanics
Entrepreneurial Mindset
- Proactive, results-oriented operator with a bias for action
- Able to navigate ambiguity and drive deals forward in a fast-paced environment
Communication & Relationship Management
- Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills; adept at building trust with founders, brokers, and internal stakeholders
- Excellent written and verbal communication for deal presentations and stakeholder updates
Organizational Excellence
- Highly organized and capable of managing multiple deals simultaneously with competing deadlines
- Proven ability to lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams and external advisors
