Title: Vice President of Corporate Development and M&A

This is with a private equity-backed industrial field services business providing precision machining & repair services, the business has completed more than five acquisitions and is on a strong path towards a successful exit in the coming years.

Position:
The VP of Corporate Development will lead key aspects of the company’s acquisition and investment strategy, working closely with senior leadership to identify, evaluate, and execute strategic transactions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in M&A. Prior experience in Private Equity and Investment Banking is preferred.

This role requires an individual who is comfortable navigating complex acquisition processes, including market analysis, due diligence, valuation modeling, and deal structuring. The VP of Corporate Development will play a crucial role in shaping the company’s growth trajectory and ensuring the smooth integration of acquired businesses.

Key Responsibilities:

M&A Strategy & Execution

1. Develop and execute a disciplined, objective, and structured approach to identifying and evaluating acquisition opportunities.
2. Build and manage a strong pipeline of potential acquisition targets within related end markets.
3. Source opportunities through proprietary relationships, industry conferences, investment banks, private equity firms, and other intermediaries.
4. Conduct financial modeling, valuation analysis, and risk assessments to support deal structuring and strategic decision-making.
5. Lead cross-functional due diligence efforts, coordinating finance, operations, legal, and external advisors.
6. Serve as the primary liaison with target companies, guiding sellers—especially founder-led businesses—through the transaction process.
7. Negotiate purchase agreements, deal structures, and key terms in collaboration with executive leadership, private equity sponsor, and legal counsel.

Strategic Partnerships & Market Intelligence

1. Conduct market research and competitive analysis to refine M&A priorities and long-term investment strategy.
2. Monitor emerging economic and industry trends, providing recommendations on strategic growth opportunities.
3. Partner with senior executives, finance teams, and private equity sponsors to ensure alignment on investment priorities.

Qualifications & Experience:

1. 6-8+ years of experience in corporate development, M&A, investment banking, or private equity.
2. Proven ability to source, evaluate, and execute M&A transactions, including pipeline development.
3. Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing complex deal processes from evaluation to close.
4. Strong financial modeling, valuation, and deal structuring expertise.
5. Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with experience working with founder-led businesses and unsophisticated sellers.
6. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth, private equity-backed environment.
7. Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and financial modeling tools.
8. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple transactions and competing priorities.
