Vice President of Operations – Heavy Equipment Rental
The private equity backers of a dynamic heavy equipment rental business have asked hireneXus to help them find a sales leader. The group does over $120MM annually in revenue, and has extensive growth plans. Founder led to this point in their growth, that leader led all sales and operations. Moving forward the organization needs an operational leader to manage the P&L, drive financial and operational results, lead operations and commercial functions effectively, and nurture a great culture and brand.
Responsibilities:
• Functional Leadership: Direct the development of strategies, oversee operations planning and budgeting, manage recruiting and staffing, and establish policies, procedures, tools, and systems for efficient operations. Ensure comprehensive reporting and effective communication.
• Operations Management: Manage all aspects of specialized fleet services to ensure that operations meet safety standards, compliance requirements, and P&L objectives. Implement and drive plans aligned with the company’s strategic goals, while leading initiatives that enhance customer experience, growth, reliability, and profitability.
• Workplace Culture: Develop a best-in-class workplace culture and build a strong reputation for operational excellence and execution.
• Labor Relations: Maintain and nurture productive, collaborative relationships with local labor unions.
Requirements:
• 10+ years of progressive experience in a fleet services environment of appropriate scale and complexity.
• 3+ years of experience in an operations leadership role.
• Experience in high-growth, customer-focused B2B environments; experience in wind energy and renewables is strongly preferred.
• Expertise in strategy development, operations planning and budgeting, policy and procedure formulation, systems management, and comprehensive reporting and communications.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to support data-driven objectives and report on operational metrics to both internal and external stakeholders.
• Proven success as a people leader, with the ability to set and gain alignment on strategic directions, attract and develop top operations talent, and cultivate a culture of accountability, quality, and customer focus.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including proficiency in delivering presentations to internal and external audiences.
• A flexible, dynamic, and self-motivated individual with a proactive approach to leadership and problem-solving.
• Strong “bias for action” and urgency, well-suited to a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
• Willingness to adopt a hands-on approach and actively participate in tactical execution when needed.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, or Business.
• Ability to work regularly in the office.
• Willingness and ability to travel domestically by car and plane.
