Vice President of Sales – Heavy Equipment Rental
The Vice President of Sales will be responsible for maintaining company-wide gross profitability goals, increasing revenues, and developing and managing the entire sales team. Additionally, the VP of Sales will be responsible for establishing a strategy to protect and grow current market share as well as advance in yet untapped markets and regions.
Essential Job Functions (Including but Not Limited to):
• Represent the Executive Team in all business development efforts by traveling, cultivating, and maintaining high-level national relationships, and leading representatives in meetings with their accounts and targets.
• Oversee and manage the entire sales team, ensuring consistent and effective use of Salesforce, and provide detailed reports on results to internal management and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with the CEO to delegate customer, project, and target responsibilities, directing the Inside Sales Team to handle and assign incoming leads from internal sources, LinkedIn, the company website, and other channels.
• Develop and deliver impactful business development, feasibility, and solutions presentations.
• Create and implement strategies to grow revenue and margins, establishing actionable goals and milestones for assigned revenue streams and customers, exceeding financial budgets.
• Attend, plan, and represent the company at industry and customer events to promote the business and develop relationships with key decision-makers.
• Provide regular feedback to the CEO regarding business development efforts through weekly updates and communications.
• Take ownership of top-line revenue and margin production during annual budget reviews, representing the performance of the entire sales team.
• Lead safety initiatives by completing and overseeing job-site audits and participating in all safety meetings and events.
• Collaborate with the CEO to lead all marketing functions, including creating marketing collateral (digital and print), managing social media channels, and overseeing paid advertising (digital and conventional).
Educational and Practical Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in business, management, or a marketing-related field (required).
• A minimum of 10+ years of experience leading sales teams with national or regional coverage, preferably in the crane, construction, or transportation industries.
Special Skills/Abilities Required:
• Strong oral communication skills to interact effectively with company personnel, clients, and suppliers in person and over the phone.
• Proven ability to excel in a fast-paced environment with rapid business growth and high-pressure demands.
• Outstanding verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Exceptional conflict resolution and critical-thinking skills.
• Excellent organizational and multi-tasking abilities, even when facing continuous interruptions.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and perform frequent use of a computer and cell phone.
• Capacity to communicate and hear effectively.
• Must be able to stand, walk, reach, stoop, bend, and lift/carry up to 30 lbs. safely in both office and job-site environments.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, with significant travel (1–2 weeks at corporate headquarters and 2–3 weeks visiting customers and targets in the field).
