Job Description

Controller Responsibilities:
  • Manage the staff and operations of the accounting department, including ensuring that the department’s organizational structure is adequate for sustaining the Company’s projected growth and that staff members are properly trained and supervised to perform all required functions
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of accounts payable, cash collections and disbursements, invoicing, accounts receivable management including customer credits and collections, recording of payroll and benefits, inventory management, fixed asset records, general accounting, account analysis and banking with a particular focus on process design which results in efficient and accurate work
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
  • Oversee quarterly physical inventories, including correct counting and recording procedures, costing and reconciliation of material differences
  • Manage and ensure that the Company is in compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Oversee all outside audits and third-party information requests
  • Create and maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
  • Maintain internal controls and safeguards for receipt and collection of revenue, cash disbursements, inventory, fixed assets and all other expenditures
  • Assist the CFO in budgeting, business forecasts and cash projections
  • Maintain a constant focus on process improvement and streamlining of workflows and processes with a particular focus on best practices and the use of technology to lessen redundant work flows
Professional Qualifications and Personal Characteristics:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required; Master’s degree and/or CPA a plus
  • 10+ years of progressive career growth in accounting, with at least 5 years of managerial experience
  • Demonstrated success in key areas of required responsibilities
  • Ability to present detailed, complex data in easy to understand analyses
  • Experience in multiple state/facilities environment a plus
  • Strong ERP and payroll system experience
  • Expert Microsoft Excel skills; strong Microsoft Word skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines
  • High ethical standards and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
