Division Controller Position Overview:

The Division Controller will play an integral role in guiding one of the largest divisions within the company. As a leader, change agent, and business partner, this individual will maintain an effective control environment and identify opportunities to exceed existing performance. Fully understanding the intricacies of Operations and Finance, this person will empower their team to not just report data, but to also create solutions and drive improvements to the bottom line throughout the business unit which encompasses Illinois, Mississippi, Mexico and Canada. Oversees and manages the daily operations of the Accounting Department to insure accurate and timely reporting of financial results. Collaborates with employees at all levels of the corporation, outside auditors, bank personnel, and insurance brokers. The Controller may also be responsible for special projects as requested by the Senior Director of Finance and/or the Vice President / GM for the business unit.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Position will report to the Senior Director of Finance and will have a strong working relationship with the business unit’s Vice President / General Manager.
  • Total ownership and accountability over the Accounting, Finance, and Reporting functions and will be the primary point of contact for the business unit’s Annual Financial Audit.
  • Responsible for managing, leading, and developing a team of (4) direct reports: (Accounting Manager, Accounts Receivable Coordinator, Accounts Payable Coordinator, and Credit & Collections Coordinator) in a manufacturing environment with that generates approximately $60 million in annual revenue
  • Issues financial statements, evaluates results, and recommends corrective action when required on a daily, weekly, and/or monthly basis.
  • Analyzes the actual results of company to the historical and budgeted results to determine the current standing of the company.
  • Issues monthly report package to managers to update them of various aspects of activity with the Company.
  • Review bank debt covenants on a regular basis to monitor compliance and report as required to the Bank.
  • Reviews for accuracy, the monthly inventory valuation reports used in the preparation of the monthly financial statements.
  • Responsible for the issuance of the annual budget.
  • Provides sales by product group information to the Vice President / General Manager.
  • Reviews the budget as prepared by the Accounting Manager and prepares a consolidated balance sheet.
  • Prepares a consolidated budgeted income statement and balance sheet, which includes operations from Illinois, Mississippi, Mexico, and Canada.
  • Assists in evaluating capital expenditure decisions for adherence to the budget and goals of the business unit with respect to return on investment.
  • Responsible for product costing of manufactured items at all business unit locations (Illinois, Mississippi, Mexico, and Canada)
  • Prepares profitability report by SKU and Customer semi-annually and reviews results with the Senior Finance Director and Vice President / General Manager.
  • Continually researches and makes recommendations for additional ways to increase the profitability of the business unit.
  • Reviews strategic pricing to major customers for compliance with corporate goals and policies.
  • Coordinates with the Senior Finance Director on reporting requirements, timing of financial statements, year-end audit, budgets and various other financial matters as needed.
  • Assists the Senior Finance Director in establishing and maintaining banking relationships to assure adequate finances to support the operations of the company.
  • Maintains close relationship with outside auditors (the annual audit, tax planning, audit of benefit programs, estate planning for owners and other matters as needed), appropriate banking personnel, and insurance brokers.
  • Participates in projects and regularly provides support to the Vice President / General Manager.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting, MBA preferred.
  • CPA is strongly desired

Experience (Years/Type):

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience working in a manufacturing organization
  • Minimum of 7 to 10 years’ experience in a Controller like position is preferred
  • Experience generating reports with either ADP or UltiPro payroll software
  • Must have experience utilizing a Manufacturing ERP System, preferably Infor
  • Must be expert level in Microsoft Excel to include but not limited to: formulas, if, then statements, vLookups, Pivot Tables, Charts & Graphs.
