Job Description

Process Engineer 

Position Summary: 

To develop, implement, monitor and maintain efficient manufacturing processes and workflow, for assembly products. This roll will report directly to the Plant Manager while working closely with the Production Manager and Supervisors, maintenance, and quality teams. 

Essentials Functions:

  • Follow all key operating procedures’ including but not limited to:
    • Company and facility Policies
    • Safety – LTCT; use of proper PPE; adherence to all applicable safety rules
    • Quality – PQCT, Bag Specifications, Testing Frequencies and Procedures
    • SOPs – Methods for performing work
    • SSOP/Good Housekeeping standards (keep machines and area sanitized and clean)
    • Good Manufacturing Practices
    • Food/Safety Security
    • HACCP ( Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point)
    • Food Regulatory and Customer Specifications 
  • Organize, implement and maintain production process flow
  • Develop working instructions, workmanship standards and process documents, and ensure they are followed
  • Improve continually existing operation, for increased quality, productivity, efficiency and cost savings
  • Investigate operational problems affecting production and reporting and recommending solutions
  • Liaise with production planner/scheduler for ensuring the released products have adequate BOM and routings
  • Manage manufacturing documentation required for product manufacturing i.e. revise drawings, BOM, accurate work instructions and workmanship standards and process procedures
  • Provide manufacturing data i.e. production control charts, reliability, process capability, to improve the process and monitor and measure progress to target
  • Organize meetings with other team members to facilitate growth
  • Identify ways to reduce production costs through recommendations – i.e. new process equipment, equipment justification to improve performance
  • Work with R & D engineering on new product development (design for excellence) to include:
    • Design for cost
    • Design for test
    • Design for manufacturability
    • Design for efficiency
  • Work with other relevant departments to determine estimated costs, run time, cost reduction, root cause, and close the feedback loop
  • Liaise with suppliers on manufacturing process
  • Train and supervise staff on new development processes and technology
  • Establish a training and quality culture
  • KPI Dashboard
    • Develop and implement a KPI dashboard to be submitted weekly. Ensure the results are communicated as required.
  • Any other reasonable task the manager may deem as suitable for the role 

Skills & Abilities: 

  • S Engineering
  • 5+ years’ experience
  • Proven track record and working knowledge in process improvement in the manufacturing industry
  • Good knowledge of cell custom build, lean Manufacturing, six sigma and ISO methodology
