Supply Chain Manager

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Process Leadership

  • Establish best practice purchasing, logistics and other supply chain processes to achieve optimum inventory levels, best freight cost and favorable purchase price variance
  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers based on volume, price, quality, on-time delivery and service
  • Work with suppliers to ensure regular supply at acceptable quality levels and best cost
  • Review purchase orders and contracts for conformance to company policy
  • Lead domestic and overseas sourcing activities to support dual sourcing and tariff mitigation strategies
  • Work closely with Quality and Engineering department to identify, screen and develop supply base
  • Support new product development projects through timely quoting and sourcing activity
  • Build lean extended supply chain in all areas to create flexible supplier partnerships
  • Assess strategic sourcing decisions through data-driven financial return analysis
  • Measure, analyze and communicate supplier and department performance that include leading indicators to identify potential problems before negatively affecting the supply chain or inventory levels
  • Assist in resolving supply issues, proactively driving improvement activity to avoid recurrence
  • Lead supplier and department improvement activity to improve quality, cost and delivery
  • Collaborate with other divisions on projects to leverage corporate purchasing power
  • Perform special projects and/or other duties of Purchasing department as needed

People Leadership

  • Lead and develop the purchasing team to ensure understanding of company goals and objectives, and personal performance goals
  • Drive team to achieve department KPIs and individual performance targets, and provide timely feedback of performance
  • Ensure buyers are executing activities effectively – including procuring parts timely, sourcing from the preferred supplier when possible, buying parts at the correct price, procuring material in the correct quantities, and ensuring components are delivered on-time
  • Ensure buyers are trained on and have a good understanding of assigned materials and commodities, purchasing practices and customer contract requirements
  • Support buyers with resolving supplier quality and delivery issues
  • Mentor and train new and existing buyers to further develop their knowledge and skills

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in procurement and/or materials management
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience supervising salaried staff including employee technical development, performance appraisals, assignment and monitoring of goals and objectives
  • Supply Chain certification preferred (APICS, CPM, CPIM, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of global supply chain management, including import and export experience
  • Demonstrated experience in applying lean supply chain principles
  • Experience developing and using advanced negotiation techniques, commodity tracking and strategies, identifying and analyzing input cost drivers, benchmarking methodologies, supplier performance metrics and writing supplier contracts
  • Proven history of developing effective inventory management policies preferred
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Willingness to learn and work with our specific ERP systems
  • Proficient with Microsoft software (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, etc.)
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Willingness to travel domestically and overseas as needed.
