Job Description

Senior Accountant

Under the direction of the CFO, the Senior Accountant provides leadership and responsible for all functions of the Accounting Department including standard costing of inventory, month end close including consolidation, and sales tax reporting.

Essential Duties

  • Oversees daily operations of the accounting department.
  • Designs, implements, and manages effective internal controls over the use of Company resources and the reporting of financial performance and condition.
  • Ensures that accounting policies are in accordance with GAAP, performed in a timely manner, are accurately reported to the users of the financial statements and are useful to management.
  • Manages the preparation of regular financial reports and ad hoc reports, including the assumption and execution of the monthly financial close process.
  • Manages external audit process and the issuance of timely audited statements.
  • Ensures Company is compliant with local, state, and federal tax reporting requirements, and calculates annual deferred taxes.
  • Ensures accounting department is appropriately staffed, makes hiring recommendations, manages and trains personnel.
  • Manages the Company insurance policies and identifies insurance coverage gaps, secures ad hoc policies and certificates, completes documentation related to annual renewal and, if necessary, oversees any insurance audit.
  • Monitors debt levels and compliance with debt covenants and completes the monthly borrowing base certificate.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
  • CPA certification preferred
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Experience in implementing internal controls.
  • High-level proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Sound knowledge of financial reporting tools/ERP systems.
  • Proven experience working in a rapid growth organization and a track record of management responsibility in such environment.
  • High-level proficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
