Job Description

Chief Financial Officer

Reporting to the CEO and the Board of Directors, the Chief Financial Officer will be the top finance and accounting executive for the organization and will be a key member of the executive leadership team. The CFO will be responsible for all financial activities of the Company, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, financial planning, performance analyses, enterprise risk management, treasury functions, through the implementation of sound business practices, procedures and systems. S/he will also provide appropriate financial analytical support and guidance in the Company’s acquisition activities, from sourcing and due diligence through acquisition accounting, integration execution and realizing synergies. In addition, the CFO will foster relations with banking institutions and commercial lenders, as well as the shareholders.

 

The CFO will be expected to play a leadership role supporting financial operations and performance, with emphasis on aiding the CEO to maximize bottom-line results. This includes providing key financial information and operational data and analytics and supporting a culture of accountability and attention to the bottom line, all within a “creative business environment”. The ideal candidate will contribute to the strategic direction of the business. The CFO will have the desire and ability to dive into the details with respect to any accounting and financial issues, while also having the capacity to think more broadly in aligning the Company’s financial strategy with its overall business objectives. The CFO will communicate effectively on a cross-functional basis within the Company and will be viewed as a trusted advisor.

The CFO will need to work with overseas subsidiaries monitoring performance and profitability, record-keeping, compliance, management reporting, quarterly and annual tax filings, cash, foreign exchange, insurance, and capital expenses.


Candidate Profile

 

The successful CFO candidate will be a high impact leader, with a proven track record of driving operational excellence in a finance organization and who has displayed progressive career growth. Experience within a distributed, multi-site services operating model is preferred, but not required; prior experience in a private equity-backed situation, including a successful exit, would be a plus. Experience in the entertainment industry is helpful, but not required. The successful candidate must have experience in executing and integrating acquisitions and other strategic growth transactions.

S/he will have a proven ability to partner with executive team members and existing finance department staff (which may include employees at different skill levels), superior written and verbal communication skills, and a strategic mindset and critical thinking skills to be an innovative problem solver and to drive value creation strategies. The candidate will be a hands-on leader and hard-working and operate with a sense of urgency. S/he will also have high integrity and a desire to work in a dynamic, challenging environment. There will be some domestic and international travel involved.

 

All candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting or other applicable curriculum. Appropriate certifications, such as a CPA, combined with an MBA or other advanced degree, are desired.

 

In terms of the performance and personal competencies required for the position, we would highlight the following:

 

Financial and Accounting Acumen

 

  • Demonstrated excellence in managing finance, accounting, budgeting, controls, pricing, business analytics and reporting. CPA strongly preferred.
  • Skilled in examining, developing, re-engineering, and recommending financial and accounting policies and procedures. Familiarity with different financial reporting packages would be helpful.
  • Demonstrated experience in the identification and development of metrics and measurements to successfully manage, control and profitably grow businesses.
  • Demonstrated experience in the evaluation of business controls (identification of control weaknesses) and in the implementation of control improvements together with the development of methods to efficiently monitor controls compliance on an ongoing basis.
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively and efficiently managing components of working capital.
  • Demonstrated oversight and aggressive management of operating expenses.
  • Demonstrated evidence in continually identifying, assessing and communicating risks and exposures within or faced by the business, and having developed measures to effectively mitigate such risks on a timely basis.
