Job Description

Controller

The Controller will report directly to the CFO and lead the finance function and responsible for the accurate and timely consolidation of financial statements while serving as lead business facing finance executive interacting with colleagues across all disciplines, including the COO, CMO, CTO, CCO, and general managers of various plant operations.

The Controller will work with the Corporate Controller to ensure financial statements are prepared in conformity to US GAAP while at the same time preparing insight and understanding of the business through the generation of management accounts. Given the company has grown rapidly over the last two years, the ID Controller will work to improve internal controls and streamline the accounting and reporting process.

Candidate Profile: We are seeking an individual who brings financial and business leadership and understands how the finance function can deliver a strategic advantage toward achieving growth through analysis, business partnering, and improved decision making. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter driven by an innate desire for improvement and takes comfort in leaving their mark on an organization. Given the high degree of interaction this role will have with other functional disciplines (operations, marketing, sales, etc), this ideal candidate will be well skilled in explaining financial topics and communicating analyses of results to a wide variety of audiences and financial savvy. The candidate’s success will be defined by a humble attitude, intellectual curiosity, comfort with uncertainty, and a process mindset. Someone who focuses on providing advice, insight, business partnering and decision support on a bedrock of sound accounting and reporting functions will do well in this role.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide financial leadership, review and oversight to a disparate set of subsidiaries
  • Form strong relationships with key stakeholders and business leaders for the segment – be viewed as the “go to” person for financial advice
  • Manage the strategic planning process
  • Protect and secure company assets
  • Review and evaluate capital spending plans and projects
  • Maintain and improve financial reports to management and external stakeholders;
  • Assist in corporate finance Implement technology and process tools to provide greater efficiency;
  • Implement, maintain and strengthen the internal controls within the businesses
  • Ensure adherence to corporate accounting policies and deadlines
  • Provide analysis and summaries of financial results, leading to actionable intelligence
  • Lead and assist certain acquisition activities as needed, from due diligence to integration
  • Assist in managing important strategic projects, such as launching an ecommerce initiative
  • Adapt to other duties in an ever changing environment

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:

  • Experience in a manufacturing organization, preferably across geographies and preferably having been promoted from plant operations to levels of increasing responsibility
  • Great project management skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills – written and verbal
  • Excellent Microsoft office skills
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and knowledge of when to call in expert help
  • Thorough and detailed approach to managing accounting functions and software tools
  • Experience in private equity owned operation would be an advantage
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Certified Public Accountant
  • Previous work in public accounting firm desired
  • Self starter, able to complete tasks with limited supervision
  • Ability to work with executive management in and articulate financial concepts
