Director of Purchasing and Inventory Management

Job Summary:

The Purchasing and Inventory Control Manager will oversee the activities of the purchasing department and manage the inventory levels for the company.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for purchases devices and supplies for the company.
  • Negotiates optimal pricing and rebates with all key vendors.
  • Maintains relationships with all GPO’s.
  • Intimate knowledge of trends, prices, buyers, and delivery conditions to anticipate future inventory availability; directs purchasing programs accordingly.
  • Evaluate current inventory system, proposed new inventory system, and work with vendor to seamlessly implement this system across the company
  • Revisit and enhance current PO System
  • Closely monitor inventory levels at all sites and enforce and monitor inventory buying and usage patterns to optimize inventory levels
  • Communicates with suppliers to resolve problems that may arise regarding delivery, quality, price, or conditions of sale.
  • Sets authorization limits for those purchasing supplies, devices at all sites.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures related to purchasing and inventory control with a goal to maximize efficiency and optimize workflow.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively problem solve and enforce P&P at the site level
  • Ability to exercise tact, courtesy, and ethics when dealing with vendors, co-workers, and customers.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills with the ability to effectively train and mentor others.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, as well as inventory software.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field with coursework in purchasing and/or inventory control management, required.
  • At least ten years of buying or purchasing experience required with supervisory experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Coupa a plus
