Macro Application Support Specialist

Position Responsibilities:

  • Work as a part of the global application support team based in Chicago, New York, London, San Francisco and Hong Kong
  • Participate in follow-the-sun support model with appropriate geographic handovers
  • Proactively engage with PMs, Traders, and Analysts to resolve issues and identify improvement opportunities
  • Rollout, setup, and educate end-users on new product implementations
  • Provide 2nd and 3rd level support for the firm’s front, middle and back office systems
  • Work with external vendors’ technical support teams to resolve issues and deliver strategic enhancements
  • Set up and monitor automated jobs in a central scheduler; ActiveBatch
  • Disciplined use of ticket, issue, and change management systems; Jira/Jira Service Desk

Position Requirements:

  • Proactive with excellent communication skills; lively, friendly, sociable personality
  • Strong understanding of Hedge fund trading applications and underlying infrastructure
  • 5 years of experience working with investment banks, investment advisors or associated software vendors
  • Support of development environments using agile methodologies and production environments within an ITIL framework
  • Strong troubleshooting and creative problem-solving abilities, including being able to interpret, understand and troubleshoot internally developed systems
  • Thorough understanding of Macro products e.g. IRS, FX Options, Bonds, Repos, OTC Equity Options, FX Forwards and Exotics. Must be able to discuss details of these products with Portfolio Managers, Analysts and Risk Managers.
  • Exposure to support of Linux, C++, C#, Python based applications
  • SQL experience across various database implementations, including MSSQL, MongoDB
  • Experience of various scripting technologies, e.g., Python, Powershell
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Escalation support for other regions, including evenings and weekends, on a rotational basis
  • Relevant college degree
  • Experience with the following systems beneficial: TT, MS Passport, FXALL, PinPoint, TradeWeb, Marquee, Flextrade, EMSX, RiskVal, Risk Metrics, Matlab, Traiana, CTM, Omgeo Oasys, Markit, BPIPE, SAPI, Fact Set, Axioma, ITRS Geneos, Jira Service Desk, Solace, Python Flask, Docker, AWS/Cloud
