Industrial Hygienist

Responsibilities:

Individual will be responsible for the safety of workers and the surrounding community in support of manufacturing processes. Individual will investigate and examine the workplace for hazards and potential dangers and ensure that federal, state, and local laws and regulations are followed in the workplace. Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, good communication skills, detail oriented and accountable for completion of work and assignments in a timely fashion. Excellent planning and organizational skills, good judgment and effective decision-making abilities.

  • Oversee all aspects of radiation safety program relative to safe practices in the workplace.
  • Investigate safety of work environment.
  • Recommend procedures for detection, prevention, and elimination of physical, chemical, or other manufacturing hazards. 
  • Conduct or direct testing of air quality, noise, temperature, or radiation levels to verify compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Responsible for DOT regulation oversite and procedural implementations.
  • Conduct or coordinate worker training in areas such as safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipment.
  • Maintain and apply knowledge of current policies, regulations, and industrial processes.
  • Research product safety.
  • Review procedural documents and update/develop safety standards, policies, or procedures as needed.
  • Confer with other personnel to resolve design or operational problems.
  • Inspect facilities or sites to determine if they meet specifications or standards.
  • Monitor work environment to ensure safety or adherence to specifications.
  • Preparation of technical and test reports.
  • Maintain liaisons with outside organizations, such as fire departments, mutual aid societies, and rescue teams, so that emergency responses can be facilitated.
  • Qualifications:

    • B.S or M.S. in engineering, chemistry, physics or related bio health science from an accredited college or university.
    • Effective written and oral communication skills. 
    • Creative problem-solving capabilities.  
    • Working knowledge of CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD Inventor)
    • Proficient with MS Office Products (Word, Excel, Access)
    • Must be a U.S. citizen due to government security clearance requirements. Applicants may be asked to complete a Federal background investigation and be granted a security clearance. 
    • Desired: 3-5 years of experience supporting an industrial product manufacturing environment.
