VP of Business Development

This role is with a young, fast growing, highly acquisitive, private equity backed multi-site B2B distribution group that is expanding nationally. They primarily distribute proprietary branded products and third-party products that are sold to wholesalers and directly to end customers. The VP of Business Development will be responsible for full life cycle M&A for the organization.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILIITES

Lead overall M&A and PMO activities for the business in conjunction with the CEO, CFO and COO:

  • Manage multiple projects and drive fast-paced execution
  • Develop an objective, consistent, disciplined approach to evaluating potential acquisitions and business combinations
  • Analyze addressable markets
  • Actively identify and source acquisition targets, including building relationships with brokers and building a deal pipeline consistent with the company’s strategic objectives
  • “Sell” the company story to the marketplace, building rapport and credibility with business owners
  • Create a business case and valuation model each potential transaction
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to complete due diligence of acquisition targets, including financial, insurance, HR/benefits, legal, and clinical/operational workstreams
  • Identify and quantify synergy opportunities with potential acquisitions; create action plans to drive synergies post close
  • Monitor due diligence utilizing project dashboards to capture progress of various workstreams
  • Structure and negotiate deals, working with the senior leadership team to gain approval from the Board
  • Support execution of acquisition strategy and post-acquisition integration initiatives
  • Build and execute on detailed integration plans including timelines, milestones, budget, resource plan, and success metrics

Operate as strategic partner to CEO:

  • Identify economic and competitive trends which impact the business
  • Inform M&A focus through development of market research and strategy
  • Work effectively with financial, sales/operational personnel, PE sponsor, and third parties

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • BA/BS degree, MBA preferred;
  • 8-10 years’ experience in various aspects of acquisition execution, project/program/integration management in similar roles, including corporate development, investment banking or private equity

Specific Competencies:

  • Experience in all aspects of M&A activity, including deal negotiation and post-acquisition integration.
  • Experience and ability to model and synthesize complex financial analysis, operational, and KPI data into concise presentations and decision framework, on a regular basis.

  • Ability to manage several projects of varying complexity at one time
  • Proven ability to build and lead diverse and distributed teams from various internal and external organizations across multiple locations
  • Experience developing workplans, project scopes, pricing estimates, and presentations to assist in project planning and execution
