Electronics Engineer

JOB SUMMARY

The Electronics Engineer is responsible for ongoing production life cycle maintenance and support to design engineering and production teams. Applications typically involve low-power / battery-powered microprocessor-based electronics. The role supports product sustainment, including obsolescence-driven changes and developing, implementing, and maintaining manufacturing processes and procedures. This includes driving continuous improvement efforts in various processes while focusing on safety, quality, and cost.

This role is the technical leader supporting electronic manufacturing and supply chain sustainment, focusing on driving resolution on production issues, addressing sustaining engineering efforts, and leading value analysis/value engineering efforts. This will include End of Life Components, VAVE Activities, Reliability Testing, Failure Root Cause Analysis, and Quality Corrective Actions. To be successful in this role, you must have a broad working knowledge of Circuits, PCB design, layout, and manufacturing processes and understand PCB assembly line operation, optimization, and troubleshooting. You will collaborate with Cross-Functional hardware and software Teams for exceptional quality, low cost, and efficient production .

Responsibilities:

• Provide technical assistance on various electrical engineering topics to Cross-Functional Teams such as Product Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Sourcing/Procurement, Quality, Reliability, Manufacturing, External Component Suppliers, and External Contract Manufacturers.

• Work directly with contract manufacturers and their suppliers to resolve issues and approve substitutions

• Support documentation efforts, including maintaining engineering drawings, schematics, bill of materials, test reports, regulatory filings, assembly procedures, and change validation plans.

• Work with firmware and software developers to validate functionality / compatibility of changes in support of product sustainment.

• Lead troubleshooting, problem-solving, failure analysis, root cause, and corrective action processes as required for production-related issues related to materials, processes, and equipment.

• Hands-on analysis and determining the root cause of any failures of complex electrical systems by troubleshooting to the component level.

• Effectively communicate (oral and written) with department managers, engineering, production, customers, vendors, and other departments.

• Manage and coordinate multiple projects that run simultaneously. Must be capable of working independently and in a team environment while effectively communicating.

• Supports New Product Development team as Manufacturing expert to ensure the Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT) of new products through new process development or modification of existing processes to meet new product criteria.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (electronics / electrical discipline preferred)

• 5 years of progressive experience in electronics design, engineering, manufacturing engineering, or production

• Familiar with test equipment (oscilloscopes, digital multi-meters), programming fundamentals, circuit diagrams/schematics, and component management systems.

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical data

• Broad tactical and strategic "bandwidth," i.e., the ability to successfully manage multiple and rapidly changing priorities

• Ability to effectively organize and prioritize issues and make intelligent, timely decisions independently or coordinate with other cross-functional teams.

• Good communication skills; written, verbal and interpersonal.

• Experience and comfort working with data from a variety of sources

• Solid financial and statistics acumen is preferred.

• The ability to translate data into meaningful planning information for Finance, Sales, and Operations teams.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Strong leadership and decision-making ability.

• Strong project management and organizational skills.

• Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Office, PowerPoint).

• Must be able to travel as needed up to 10%.
