Job Description

Plant Controller Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years Plant Controller experience in a manufacturing environment. This position functions as a business partner with plant and financial management to effectively manage and control the local business. This position will:

  • Prepare monthly actual operational cost reports, KPI’s and forecasts on a timely and accurate basis.
  • Develop, maintain and audit accurate standard unit costs utilizing activity-based costing.
  • Analyze profitability of existing & new products.
  • Perform daily walkthroughs with local management to discuss production and cost issues.
  • Document and understand ERP/MRP systems, hardware, and reporting conventions and serve as the on-site business system expert.
  • Maintain perpetual inventory and reconcile with receipts, production, shipping, and returns.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls for purchasing, operations, inventory and cost.
  • Ensure accuracy of the physical inventory and reported results. Investigate and explain book-to physical adjustments.
  • Analyze potential excess and obsolete inventory items monthly.
  • Support preparation of monthly financial statements with the corporate office.
  • Work closely with Senior Management to translate lean process improvement and marketing initiatives of the company’s business units into dollars & “sense”.
  • Support Senior Management in preparation of annual financial plans & periodic forecasts
  • Review capital expenditure proposals and prepare analysis and payback justification.
  • Develop and maintain accurate fixed asset reporting.
  • Responsible for internal controls at the plant for operations, sales and finance.
  • Perform all other special projects as assigned.

Education and/or Experience (Preferred)

  • BS Accounting
  • Minimum 5 years industrial manufacturing experience
  • Strong Cost Accounting Experience
  • CMA, CGMA, CPA and/or Lean Manufacturing Green Belt
  • Developed cost accounting systems thru implementation of a computerized cost system
  • Microsoft AX 2012 Enterprise System Software experience
