Job Description

Vice President of Sales and Marketing-Building Products

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the overall sales strategy for the business including sales and channel design, coverage models, market segment strategy, competitive differentiation, pricing and customer offerings.
  • Optimize overall coverage of sales force(s) and channels as necessary to increase effectiveness.
  • Develop in conjunction with other key leadership members, programs to successfully and profitably grow both top-line and EBITDA by capturing new/increased business from dealers and distributors.
  • Drive successful sales execution across the customer base through increased sales effectiveness and account penetration efforts. Lead development and execution of programs for national accounts.
  • Work with Product Marketing to develop and lead pricing strategies including price lists and price increases.
  • Actively work with the marketing function. Focus on building well-defined efforts in segmentation, pricing, product management, channel management, and sales support.
  • Develop and implement “best in class” sales techniques, processes, tools, performance metrics and appropriate compensation/incentive structures.
  • Collaborate with other functions, to identify, evaluate, prioritize and commercialize products / applications that satisfy current and unmet customer needs. Lead the development of value propositions for applications to maximize sales and profit.
  • Cultivate and foster an environment of high performance, through the use of performance management methodologies, employee development and rewards and recognition.
  • Develop and track sales forecasts, goals and corresponding initiatives based upon overall strategy, market conditions and operational capabilities.
  • Lead acquisition integration related to sales / marketing activities.
  • Advise and serve on the senior leadership team in making decisions regarding the overall performance and growth.
  • Provide regular updates to senior leadership regarding sales activities to ensure they are well informed of the relevant issues.
  • Maintain awareness of general economic conditions, industry and competitive dynamics and determine the potential impact on revenue and profitability for the company.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree is required, and an MBA is a plus.
  • At least 10-15 years of relevant sales and marketing experience with significant experience in management at a senior level.
  • Experience with complex channels including 1-step and/or 2-step distribution, specialty dealers, third-party reps, as well as direct sales is highly preferred.
  • Experience in coatings, and other construction products is preferred.
  • Demonstrated track record with consistently having a measurable, positive impact on all facets of the business: profitability, revenue and growth.
  • Experience in an entrepreneurial, sponsor-backed or levered environment is a plus.
  • Demonstrated success in attracting, building, and retaining teams and the ability to evaluate and to develop sales leaders.
  • Proven ability to instill discipline around the selling process and in elevating sales team performance.
  • Additional experience in b2b marketing is desired with specific emphasis on segmentation, pricing, product management, and channel management.
  • Experience with P&L management a distinct plus.
