Plant Manager-Aerospace/Metals


Purpose:

Seeking inspirational leader who will be a key part of the site leadership team to establish the vision of the business unit and engage and empower work teams to achieve significant growth and performance objectives. The site is primarily a manufacturer of products for the aerospace industry.

Leadership

  • Develop and execute an operations and manufacturing strategy for the business to support profitable business growth.
  • Set high standards for Environmental, Health and Safety within the plant, leading by example manage all aspects of EH&S, its planning, compliance, auditing and control.
  • Develop an operating budget for the business unit.
  • Lead and manage a Lean cultural change program in a very traditional environment, engender a “can do will do attitude”, focus on “getting the basics” right.
  • Set new operational and business standards based upon an Operational Excellence model and aspirations to becoming world class.
  • Lead by example, reinforce the principles of accepting Responsibility, Ownership and Accountability throughout the business.

Functional

 

  • Ensure manufacturing output achieves planned sales and profitability targets with OTIF delivery.
  • Develop capacity models, manufacturing plans and human resource plans to meet current business needs and growth objectives.
  • Develop and act upon meaningful and focused operational KPI’s.
  • Drive a prioritized continuous improvement program through the application of LEAN to eliminate WASTE.
  • Effectively manage all operational costs both direct and indirect.
  • Develop standardized processes and procedures to support “right first time”, equipment optimization and a productive workforce.
  • Reduce all aspects of inventory while increasing stock turns.
  • Develop a plant maintenance strategy, reduce plant downtime and improve equipment availability.
  • Develop strong team work across all business units and functions.
  • Project Management - Lead and support project teams in the delivery of business improvement initiatives.
  • Coach and mentor leadership skills of direct reports and next level reports.
  • Develop and justify capital expenditure plans and execute in a timely manner.

Requirements

 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, Metallurgy, Material Science, or Welding.
  • Training in six sigma and lean initiatives. (Six Sigma Black Belt and Lean Certification preferred)
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills. 

Experience: 5 or more years in a manufacturing environment with supervisory experience in a high tech manufacturing environment, including Braze, Heat Treat, Welding, Machining and EDM.

 

  • Project Management experience required.
  • Experience with Microsoft AX and E2 job shop systems a plus.
  • Aerospace, NADCAP and FAA, experience preferred.
