Industrial Engineer

 

Manages the company’s engineering database and cost estimating process. Develops, integrates, and/or improves systems to support the business. Understands the manufacturing processes and informational needs of customers, at all levels of the organization.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Establish and maintain an engineering database of all products by part number; including, BOM, BOO, production standards, engineered cycle time, electronic drawing files, CE’s, EC’, 3D prints, etc. This database must be a part of or integrally linked to the ERP system.
  • Manage the Cost Estimating (CE) process by ensuring that all required data is accurate and current, and that the process is being correctly used by all participants
  • Support the development and maintenance of production standards (throughput, scrap, engineered cycle times), keeping them updated by comparing actual to standard or designed performance, through periodic audits.
  • Manage the Engineering ERP module and PDM/EC systems, including recommending appropriate system upgrades. Ensures best practices and continuous improvement activities are identified and implemented.
  • Provide support to users of the above software and assist in utilizing it to increase productivity, improve quality, provide and distribute documentation. This would include, but not be limited to overall equipment effectiveness reporting.
  • Be the company expert in current equipment/tooling asset inventory and process capability. Document this knowledge in a database.
  • Assist Engineering departments with development and documentation for new equipment and tooling.
  • Provide necessary support to the plants and engineering to assure that proper tools and assistance are available to perform assigned tasks and maintain engineering files and documents.
  • Complete drafting and 3-D printing assignments as required. Maintain request system and storage of needed information.
  • Travel to all US and International facilities as needed for support, up to 20%.
  • Actively supports and manage within mission, vision, Code of Conduct and Process Based Leadership guidelines.
  • Actively supports our 5S + Safety programs. 

Education and Experience:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • Minimum 3 years directly related experience
  • Experience with an ERP system required
  • CAD experience a must. Solidworks a strong asset.
  • Good mechanical aptitude, knowledge of machine shop and mfg processes required.
  • Able to communicate effectively, verbal and written form.
  • Knowledge of Lean and/or Six Sigma tools
  • Strong commitment to a team environment
  • Bilingual (Spanish) a plus
