Director of Human Resources

I am working with a national industrial services group with multiple locations across the country. They are seeking a Director of Human Resources to work with the CHRO on their continued growth.

SUMMARY:

The Human Resource Director is responsible for supporting the company’s most valuable resource our employees. This hands-on position will provide strategic and tactical support, partnering with Line-of-Business (LOB) leaders to driver strategic plans and support the execution of these plans, programs, and initiatives to deliver best in class service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strategic partner to business leaders to help driver business performance
  • Counsel, partner with and influence Managers and Leaders
  • Manage day to day activities and solve problems with managers and team members consistent with company policies/practices, legal considerations, etc.
  • Facilitate resolution of employee relations issues.
  • Partner with CHRO to recommend adjusting HR strategies and tactics to respond to changing business needs
  • Use sound HR knowledge and provide hands-on execution to assigned LOB management team in the areas of workforce planning, change management, employee productivity, recruitment and selection, and employee relations
  • Partner with CHRO on implementing and executing employee relations programs/practices that create a positive organizational culture and enable management effectiveness.
  • Through the use of HR metrics, continuously assess the effectiveness of all human resources programs relative to the achievement of desired goals and outcomes and the overall strategic business plans.
  • Partner with CHRO on implementing and executing affirmative action plans and participate in local outreach activities to promote the hiring and retention of a qualified and diverse workforce
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.
  • Manage the customer experience to meet and exceed expectations; helping to resolve any issues or escalations.
  • Stay up-to-date on all HR regulations, laws, compliance, etc. to ensure the ability to identify legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensure policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance.
  • Serve as the frontline expert for management team as it relates to HR and ensure all HR deliverables are received by client on an ongoing basis. This may be done personally or with the support of the internal HR team.
  • Write and deliver presentations to client companies, local organizations, etc., on behalf of HR.
  • Responsible for first line responses to client surveys and the management of issues, following through to completion.
  • Coordinate client management/employee training and performance management utilizing on line programs and HR software.
  • Work with Comp & Benefits Specialist to conduct wage surveys within labor market to determine competitive wage rate.
  • Represent organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations as needed.
  • Partner in the organization and carrying out of the training program for other team members and the HR team.
  • Provide anti-harassment, discrimination, and other training to team members, especially those in supervisory positions.
  • Conduct investigations and participate in drafting EEO responses.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Demonstrated success in key areas of required responsibilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • High ethical standards and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Hands – on self-starter with a sense of urgency
  • Character to thrive in a very dynamic and rapidly growing environment
  • Strong computer skills in Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Travel required 30 to 40 percent of the time

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • 4 - Year college degree
  • 7 + years of human resources experience in a multiple state/facilities environment
  • Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) or Professional in Human Resources (PHR) is preferred
