JOB PURPOSE: Provide technical guidance and technical solutions during the pre-sales process identifying customers’ technical requirements. The application engineer will work closely together with the sales team and plan the work at a team level.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: • Become a technical expert in 2D products – Vision products. • Discuss technical issues and solutions with new and existing customers in the pre- and post-sales processes to meet technical requirements. • Actively drive and manage the pre-sales process in collaboration with the sales team. • Deliver customer demonstrations, benchmarks, training and pre & post-sales technical support. • Support the sales team for applications qualification and in-depth technical expertise. • Develop solutions to meet customers’ requirements. • Develop and update “best practice” usage of the equipment for internal and external customers. • Participate and direct Project Management through each phase of the project. • Provide application and software support for customers as post sales activity. • Understand market trends and identify business opportunities for revenue growth • Create application programs for customers to meet with their request. • Conduct on-site training and contract inspection/applications work for customers • Summarize and present data results to customer with power point and excel • Create new and update existing training manuals • Support and co-work with 2D Field Service Engineers • Provide feedback internally (the progression/problem/wrap up the project) • Complete service and expense reports in a timely manner
RESPONSIBILITIES • Work independently to address customer issues. • Coordinate customer service and repairs with the service department. • Help to develop innovative ideas and solutions to customer’s problems. • Promote vision products and solutions at exhibitions and conferences.
QUALIFICATIONS Essential • Technical degree or 2 years of technical experience. • High degree of metrology software literacy. • Application knowledge and experience of metrology solutions • Proven experience with customer interaction. • Proficient in English and Geometry • Ability to understand and analyze metrology data.
Desirable • Bachelor or Master Degree in technical engineering field. • 3+ years of experience in a similar position. • Computer programming experience beneficial • Knowledge and experience of CAD/simulation software and applications beneficial • Practically competent (can use tools as well as a computer).
COMPETENCIES • Good overall understanding of the ASME Y14.5 standard • Strong Metrology background with knowledge of various hardware and software products needed. • Strong technical interest combined with common business sense • Hands-on person showing systematic approach to handle complex problems • Ability to perceive and understand customers’ needs • Ability to read technical drawings and understand technology • Excellent presentation skills • High sense of responsibility and initiative thinking • Ability to work independently / with little supervision
