ControllerWe are partnering with a highly acquisitive, multi-site service organization looking to add a Controller to their executive team.
We are seeking a Controller with an analytical mind and excellent organizational skills. This is a tremendous opportunity to help scale a fast-growing company. Our accounting team is focused on growth, so a passion for automating tasks and an aptitude for applying technological solutions to manual problems is a must. We are a lean team and an ability to operate independently across a range of functions including monthly close, treasury, audit, tax, and payroll, is critical.
The Controller works directly with the CFO in developing accurate, scalable, and timely reporting and will have significant influence on the department’s decision-making, particularly, converting the company’s financials to comply with GAAP. The Controller will assist in the development of internal controls across the accounting function. This position will own the monthly close process, ensure reporting accuracy, and reduce manual tasks throughout the department and will be heavily involved in the audit process. We focus on informed decision-making through data analysis and as such the candidate will see an immediate impact from their work to the operations of the business lines. The Controller reports directly to the CFO will have full responsibility for accounting, reporting, and compliance functions.
Responsibilities will include:
- Lead and manage the accounting team in performing daily financial operations, ensuring timely and accurate revenue recognition and general ledger management
- Timely preparation and management of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close
- Manage relationship with Company’s independent auditors to ensure timely completion of year-end audit
- Coherent analysis of Company’s financial results, including business analytics and insightful evaluation of the various drivers of the Company’s financial performance
- Oversee and maintain cash flow forecasting models to support business planning and liquidity management
- Responsible for architecting and maintaining the appropriate level of internal controls that provide adequate safeguards without unnecessary bureaucracy
- Provide input and support for the annual budgeting process and ongoing forecasting
- Oversee payroll administration including third party payroll processing, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and maintaining accurate payroll records
- Manage the accounts receivable and accounts payable team including customer billing, cash application and collections as well as vendor payments
- Maintenance and timely preparation of Company’s tax returns (federal, state & local income, property, sales and otherwise)
- Ensure books and records are always maintained in accordance with US GAAP and supervise the generation of the Company’s financial reports
- Oversee and direct the financial integration of acquired companies
Experience
- 5 – 10+ years progressive accounting and financial management experience
- Experience in public accounting followed by experience in industry (preferred)
- Previous experience as Assistant Controller or Controller (preferred)
- Has worked in a fast paced / high growth environment
- Experience operating in an environment with institutional debt and credit agreement compliance requirements is a plus
- Experience with M&A activity and integrating target companies is a plus
- Project-level accounting experience, particularly in a multi-entity and multi-state environment, is a plus
- Experience with enterprise level information systems is a plus
Education / Certifications / Skills
- CPA Designation
- BS Accounting or Finance
- Masters of Accounting (preferred)
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems and data tools
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics (preferred)
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
