Plumbing Designer- San Antonio, Texas

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• • Undertake the design of diverse plumbing systems for commercial buildings of varying sizes, encompassing domestic water, sanitary, storm, natural gas, lab/medical, gas/vacuum, specialized waste systems, and performance-spec fire protection, under the guidance of senior personnel.

  • Conduct essential calculations, including pressure loss, pump head, roof drain, fixture unit, and water heater assessments, to support system design effectively.

  • Adhere to senior staff directives, follow established design standards, and collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure seamless project coordination.

  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure timely and budget-compliant project completion, attending design meetings and contributing insights as necessary.

  • Support construction activities through site visits and field surveys, verifying code compliance, monitoring construction progress, and assessing as-built conditions, while also documenting meeting minutes and creating site observation reports.

  Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Proficiency in designing and producing construction documents for a range of building projects, including plans, calculations, specifications, and cost estimates (preferred).

  • MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) experience is essential.

  • Previous involvement in construction administration tasks such as RFIs, submittal reviews, site visits, and change order reviews is advantageous.

  • Preferably, experience in commercial, educational, laboratory, and healthcare design.

  • Solid understanding of building and plumbing codes, including NFPA standards.

  • Detailed knowledge of fixtures and equipment from various manufacturers, with the ability to make independent selections confidently.

  • Preferred certification as a Certified Plumbing Designer (CPD).

  Technology/Computer Experience:

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, OneNote).

  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD is mandatory.

  • Familiarity with BIM Collaborate Pro (formerly BIM 360) is preferred.

  • Working knowledge of Bluebeam software is advantageous.

  Education:

  • Associate’s Degree preferred, or equivalent technical program degree in Mechanical Design.

  Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in plumbing design for commercial structures within an A/E or MEP firm (preferred).

  Requirements:

  • Capable of traversing difficult terrain at construction sites unassisted.

  • Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.

  Schedule:

  • Monday: 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM

  • Tuesday to Thursday: 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM

  • Friday: 7:30 AM – 12:00 PM

  Work Authorization:

  • Eligible to work in the United States.

Plumbing Designer- San Antonio, Texas

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design plumbing systems including domestic water, sanitary, storm, natural gas, lab/medical, gas/vacuum, specialized waste systems, and performance-spec fire protection in all sizes of commercial buildings with direction from senior staff
• Perform pressure loss, pump head, roof drain, fixture unit, water heater, and all other necessary calculations to support system design
• Follow direction from senior staff, follow design standards, and coordinate work efforts with multi-disciplinary engineering teams
• Work with project managers to complete projects on schedule and within budget
• Attend design meetings
• Assist in construction site visits and field surveys to verify code compliance, construction progress, and as-built conditions
• Record meeting minutes and create site observation reports

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:

• Proficient in design, and production of construction documents (plans, and calculations for a variety of building projects, specifications, and cost estimates, preferred)
• Must have MEP experience
• Construction administration experience (RFIs, submittal reviews, site visits, and change order reviews, preferred)
• Experience in commercial, education, laboratory, and healthcare design, preferred
• Working knowledge of building and plumbing codes, including NFPA standards
• Detailed knowledge of fixtures and equipment from various manufacturers and the ability to make proper selections independently
• Certified Plumbing Designer (CPD) Certification, preferred

TECHNOLOGY/COMPUTER EXPERIENCE:

• Working Knowledge in MS Office 10 Pro (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, OneNote)
• Must be proficient in Revit, and AutoCAD
• Working knowledge of BIM Collaborate Pro (formerly BIM 360), preferred
• Working knowledge of Bluebeam, preferred

EDUCATION:

• Associates Degree, preferred
• Technical program degree in Mechanical Design, preferred

EXPERIENCE:

• 2+ years of recent experience in plumbing design for commercial structures with an A/E or MEP firm, preferred

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to traverse difficult terrain at construction sites with no assistance
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
