Senior Procurement Manager
Job Summary:

  • Managing all aspects of procurement for the assigned categories (Commodities/Ingredients) to ensure customer needs and company goals are met.
  • To develop, execute and manage the sourcing strategy for assigned categories (Commodities/Ingredients).
  • Will manage overall performance to achieve the highest level of performance in cost, quality, and service.

Primary Job Functions:

  • Devise, execute, and oversee sourcing strategies for designated categories within the organization and extract value from strategic supplier relationships; where strategic sourcing is absent, create and implement appropriate sourcing roadmaps to enhance value.
  • Identify and proactively address potential risks within the supply base, analyze procurement costs and propose methods to optimize expenditures.
  • Develop a comprehensive procurement toolbox, incorporating negotiation plans for strategic sourcing, creation of robust true-cost models, volume aggregation, competitive bidding, demand management, exploration of new supply models, innovation, cross-portfolio leveraging, and low-cost country models, among others.
  • Manage inventory position reports and recommend coverage adjustments based on market dynamics and the current supply and demand landscape and identify, vet, and execute opportunities for specification improvement and optimization.
  • Lead contract negotiations as required and support team members in negotiations when necessary and establish and maintain relationships with vendors through participation in meetings, site visits, trade shows, etc.
  • Provide support and identify opportunities for enhancing vendor performance and formulate standard operating procedures to ensure procurement activities align with best-in-class policies, including legal and regulatory compliance.
  • Foster effective communication with colleagues, management, suppliers, and customers.
  • Demonstrate the ability to build consensus, resolve conflicts, address challenging business issues, and aggressively pursue organizational goals and promote ethical procurement practices, ensuring compliance with corporate, departmental policies and procedures, and relevant federal, state, and legal regulations.
  • Uphold integrity, respect, teamwork, and equity in all job aspects, dealing with suppliers, team members, customers, and others, adhere to safety practices to prevent injuries and accidents in all work activities, represent the company positively and responsibly, and undertake additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of pertinent experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and practical expertise.
  • Proficient in food manufacturing procurement categories.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Oracle or other ERP systems.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in end-to-end sourcing and supply chain networks.
  • Proven success in vendor management, negotiation, and administration of high-value contracts.
  • A disciplined negotiator in intricate sourcing environments, adept at balancing purchase price, freight spend, cash-flow, speed, quality, and service.
  • Ability to operate strategically and tactically, comfortable in both high-level strategy and hands-on individual contribution.
  • Strong skills in relationship-building, effective communication, and influence.
  • Analytical and adept at problem-solving.

Additional Considerations:

  • Travel: Required for various locations and job-related functions.
  • Work Environment: Primarily office-based, with approximately 5% of time in an agricultural or manufacturing setting.
