Procurement Engineer
Job Purpose:
To spearhead Sourcing activities focused on new product development and legacy product re-sourcing by collaborating with project managers, design/development engineers and quality engineers where you’ll be required to identify, evaluate, and select suppliers capable of delivering technical products and services to the Company while meeting quality and cost objectives. Regularly communicate project status to Company stakeholders and management.
Responsibilities:
- Scout for new suppliers who possess the technical capabilities and expertise needed to enhance our products and services.
- Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with our goals and objectives, emphasizing cost savings.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand the technical aspects of our product design needs and identify appropriate suppliers.
- Lead the selection, development, qualification, approval, and monitoring of suppliers.
- Conduct research and Requests for Quotes (RFQ) to evaluate potential suppliers’ capabilities, capacity, and quality, negotiating pricing and payment terms to meet our requirements.
- Participate in establishing Supplier Agreements and/or Company-Supplier Terms & Conditions (T&Cs) to foster beneficial partnerships.
- Develop and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers through site visits, performance meetings, and virtual engagements.
- Ensure early supplier involvement in the product design process to optimize outcomes.
- Conduct competitive bidding among the supply base and perform comparative analysis to identify the most cost-effective opportunities.
- Maintain detailed project tracking spreadsheets and provide regular progress updates to management.
- Monitor project timelines closely and issue purchase orders to meet delivery requirements.
- Host supplier project meetings, documenting action items, due dates, and ownership.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks in the supply chain, such as geopolitical, economic, or logistical risks.
- Provide support to team members on technical issues and questions related to ongoing supplier selection and order fulfillment.
- Actively contribute to the development of metrics, reports, and management review presentations as needed.
- Ensure compliance with Quality System and relevant standards.
- Lead or participate in continuous improvement projects focused on supplier quality, delivery, and productivity.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Business Administration, or Supply Chain Management.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in commodity/category management or procurement.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of NPD processes for product development and commercialization.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Industry experience with purchasing and quality management systems preferred.
Job Purpose:

Job Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Scout for new suppliers who will bring the necessary technical capabilities, expertise, and value to the Company and its products.
- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with our goals and cost-savings objectives.
- Collaborate with project managers, design/development engineers and quality engineers to gain their input to understand the technical aspects of the product design needs for the purpose of identifying the appropriate supplier(s).
- Lead activities to facilitate the selection, development, qualification, approval, and monitoring of suppliers.
- Conduct research and Requests for Quotes (RFQ) to identify potential suppliers, evaluate their capabilities, capacity, and quality, and negotiate pricing and payment terms to meet specified requirements.
- Participate in establishing Supplier Agreements and/or Company-Supplier Terms & Conditions (T&Cs) with suppliers.
- Develop mutually beneficial supplier partnerships, which may include site visits, periodic performance meetings and hosting supplier visits and virtual meetings.
- Ensure early supplier involvement in the product design process.
- Conduct competitive bidding amongst supply base and perform comparative analysis to identify lowest cost opportunities.
- Maintain a spreadsheet for all assigned Sourcing projects to track progress, challenges, and achievements and present to management on a weekly basis.
- Monitoring project timelines and issuing purchase orders to meet delivery requirements.
- Hosting supplier project meetings and issuing meeting notes with action items, due dates, and ownership.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks in the supply chain, such as geopolitical, economic, or logistical risks.
- Support team members on technical issues and questions related to ongoing supplier selection and order fulfillment.
- Participate in establishing Supplier Agreements and/or Company-Supplier Terms & Conditions (T&Cs) with suppliers.

- Actively involved in the development of metrics, reports, and management review presentations (as needed).
- Know and apply the Quality System and any appropriate Federal and International Standards.
- Lead or participate as assigned in the development of continuous improvement projects/kaizens focused on supplier quality, delivery and productivity (cost savings).

- Must possess NPD process knowledge for the development and commercialization of products.
- Ability to work and think independently in a fast-paced environment handling multiple priorities/projects.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Proficient with ERP systems and setting appropriate parameters preferred.
- Industry experience with purchasing and quality management systems preferred.
