Tooling Technician

• • Conduct daily shop inspections and perform preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Utilize metal fabrication and welding skills (Stick, MIG, TIG) with proficiency in welding aluminum and steel.
  • Ensure all tasks are executed safely, adhering to safety rules and company policies.
  • Prepare and set up molds for each mold change, maintaining thermoplastic molds to ensure consistent quality, output, and yield.
  • Complete daily mold change sheets and necessary paperwork.
  • Participate in all PPS activities as directed by Supervisors.
  • Communicate effectively with production team members, Team Leaders, Engineers, and Inspectors to ensure quality mold installation.
  • Troubleshoot mold issues and perform preventive maintenance on injection mold tooling.
  • Remove and install Hot Runner Service as needed.
  • Support Engineers with tool design reviews for new builds and determine feasibilities of engineering changes during design review.
  • Must possess own tools.

Our client is a growing global Tier One supplier of Acoustic and Soft Trim products to the automotive industry is seeking a motivated and committed Tooling Technician for the manufacturing operations in Salem, VA for 1st Shift and 2nd Shift – flexibility is required / open to relocation applicants.

• Perform daily shop inspections and preventive maintenance
• Exposure to metal fabrication, welding (Stick, MIG and TIG)
• Ability to weld aluminum and steel
• Performs all tasks in a safe manner
• Comply with safety rules and company policies
• Set-Up and get molds ready for each mold change
• Maintain thermoplastic molds to ensure consistent quality, output and yield
• Complete daily mold change sheets and other required paperwork
• Complete/participate in any and all PPS activities as directed by Supervisors
• Communicate effectively with production team member, Team Leaders, Engineers, and Inspectors to ensure quality installation of molds
• Troubleshoot issues with the molds
• Perform preventive maintenance on injection mold tooling and prior to mold changes
• Trouble shoot any problems involved with mold changes
• Remove and install Hot Runner Service
• Support Engineers with tool design reviews on new builds
• Ability to determine feasibilities of engineering changes during design review
• Must have own tools
