Vice President of Information Technology
I am currently collaborating with a rapidly expanding manufacturing enterprise operating across various locations in Canada and the US, driving growth through strategic acquisitions. The organization has recently undergone significant expansion through internal initiatives and pivotal acquisitions.
Responsibilities and Key Functions:
Assess the current IT infrastructure and provide recommendations to distinguish between core and non-core IT activities. Establish and lead a dynamic, customer-centric systems organization recognized for its responsiveness and sense of urgency. Evaluate IT implications in potential business mergers and ensure seamless integration. Optimize resource allocation by directing internal efforts toward core IT functions and leveraging external resources for global non-core projects. Collaborate with business stakeholders to develop IT strategies aligned with the company’s overall goals. Oversee the deployment, maintenance, and enhancement of all IT systems, including software, applications, and hardware. Manage the financial aspects of the IT department, including budget development and conducting cost/benefit analyses. Assess the need for new development versus implementing pre-packaged solutions, streamline applications, and enhance functionality while reducing costs. Enforce company-wide technology standards across applications and infrastructure. Ensure continuous improvement and security of critical operational systems and data. Evaluate and implement new technologies to support the company’s objectives. Assist in conducting business-related studies and collaborate with other departments on analytical projects. Generate ad-hoc reports and analyses as needed. Undertake additional tasks and projects as required.
Desired Qualifications, Characteristics, and Skills:
Qualifications:
15+ years of experience in multi-company/multi-country manufacturing, including acquisition integration. Familiarity with IT requirements in service-based industries is advantageous. Expertise in ERP systems within manufacturing, including selection and implementation experience. Previous engagement in mid-size organizations with revenues exceeding $100 million is highly desirable. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. Proficiency in business systems applications, including business intelligence, data warehousing, and application development. Experience in managing and assessing relationships with managed service providers. Direct involvement in IT planning and budgeting.
